New Projector.....Optoma GT 1090 HDR

I am moving into a new house in May...… so that means new sim room with all new stuff.

My image will be 16x 9 feet. I would like the projector to be 8-12 feet away.

I saw on Optima's site that it starts shipping in March 2020. It looks like a good bang for the buck.

I’m jealous. I have the 1080 hdr. 1090 has more lumins, longer lamp life to mention a few things. What kind of price?

the 406st looks to be the same with the exception of HDCP 2.2 and the price. I would expect that the GT1090HDR is replacing the 406st.

I just received my gt1090hdr I ordered it from Bestbuy.com and it showed up in a few days. I was hoping I could put the projector on the floor off to the side but there is not enough adjustment to do so. I will have to mount it on the ceiling.

Nice, Depending on what we sell our house for..... I might end up with a GT1080 HDR..... Our current house still needs to sell.....not a good time for selling. It looks like the 1090 can do 2160p whereas the 1080 can only do 1080p. Not to much out there for 4k anyway.... My computer is beefy enough to play TGC in 4k..... Both projectors should be able to take the feed and the 1090 should look a little better.

The 1090 is laser and not a lamp. That is a nice upgrade over 1080

One of the main differences between the GT1090 HDR and the GT 1080 HDR is that the 1090 is capable of 2160p/60 whereas the 1080 is only capable of 1080p/60. Since both projectors are 1080p .... I am assuming that the 1090 upscales to 2160p. Anyone here using an upscaling projector? My new screen will have excellent image qualities...... So no worry there. Will there be a noticeable difference in quality? I will also be using the room as a TV/home theatre room. My Oled TV upscales quite nicely..... almost to the point that you don't see much of a difference between 1080p and 4k content. Going to the GT 1080 HDR will save me about $1000 Cnd. I am trying to figure out if the extra 1k is worth it.

Actually the 1090 downscales. It can receive 2160p as an input but only outputs 1080p

I see, I am thinking that 4k projectors are a little outside of my budget right now. We took an absolute beating on the sale price of our current house. So the sim room budget is tight.

I had the Optima 412ST HDR and I had focus issues. I could not get image center focused and I could only get 1 corner focused at a time which left the other 3 corners blurry. Projector was definitely bright but with low contrast image was washed out. The contrast I could deal with but the focus was the main issue for me. I ended up sending it back. Hopefully this newer version will be an upgrade from previous.

I just upgrade from gt1080 up to 1090hdr about 2 weeks ago the image quality is a huge improvement. Can't say for sure if it's worth it over the 1080 HDR but the contrast on 1090hdr is much better rated, and is also brighter. It will definitely be an upgrade, how much will someone notice on a big impact screen, not sure.

I am going with a Screen from Visgolf.com. Mike has an excellent mid-level screen. The image looks as good as my premium screen.....which I sold.... I had some time hitting on Mike's mid level screen in Texas before Xmas..... Fantastic image .... the projector was an Optima WU515TST. That projector with that screen was a winning combination. TGC 2019 looked super crisp. I am hoping that the GT 1090 HDR looks as good as the WU515TST did.

keither5150 I had it centered. I had not mounted projector yet and performed several test with projector sitting on floor. I had the ability to move around and get exact distance needed from screen and also centered to screen. I am no expert in this field but I have had several cinema projectors for a home theater and have never had this occur. Most people probably would not notice the fuzziness in the image towards the edges but it killed me, lol. The center never would get a crisp edge for whatever reason.

That is odd. I have had some experience with a WU515TST which also had a manual focus..... It looked good to me I am probably going to go for the GT 1090 HDR...... I am going from a Panasonic that had 1600 lumens for brightness. However the Panasonic looked great in the dark. That projector was more suited for movies than golf.
