hi guys...some advice or input please. Everyone here been really helpful and I’m almost there...

looking at benq mw632st or the th671st (refurb)

prices are basically the same and I have room for either as short throw in my garage build. I don’t know enough about the specs to make a decision. The th671 is typically more expensive and has more lumens, so should I just go with that one?

any reason to go w the mw632?

Anyone have ave either and can give feedback!

    Thanks in advance

I found a good deal on the mw632 but its not that bright. not sure if I have settings off? anyone have suggestions how to brighten it up? not including the actual 'bright' settings, ive obviously tried that. maybe I need to just spend more on the projector? reviews for it were good though including several reviewing as a golf sim.

not sure if my room is tooo bright...but even with all the lights off it isn't as clean as pics I see online. maybe its my screen?

If it has an eco mode make sure to turn that off.

Hmm, this is discouraging, I ordered the same projector to arrive this week. Please do post a solution if you find one. What screen do you have?

Paint your walls and ceiling black might help. You need to cut down on light in your room as well as much as possible. Then have a spot light or something over your hitting area.

Yes. Good call on the spotlights. Def has too much light in the room.

So fixed it with a couple things.

I definitely had too much washed out light. Got some cheap amazon led spotlights and mounted behind projector to just illuminate the hitting area, and turned off a lot of the other light. Also dropped a white sheet behind my Carl’s standard screen. That prevented a lot of the light bounce back which was washing out even more. Plus without the sheet could really see the net behind screen I have for extra cushion. I also tightened up my screen a bit.

I think i really should have paid for the premium screen. Next upgrade... but with the above edits the projector is much brighter and crisp. I’d bet if I had the premium screen it would be perfect,
the standard screen has a lot of grain to it so the image really isn’t that smooth. I’ve realized it’s a lot more about the screen than the projector.

Projector arrived and screen should be here tomorrow. I will post my thoughts as soon as I can get it up and running. Glad to hear though that you are getting a better picture by controlling lights. I bought the Par2Pro SQ screen so hopefully that will produce good results.

You will be happy with the par2pro screen. Please remember these are not theatre quality screens though, but the image is still very good!

Understood - yes expectations are managed - really more interested in the brightness of the picture relative to the room. It is a basement installation so I should be able to control the lighting easily.

If anyone check8ng this thread out wants an MW632ST I have one I'd sell for a good price. I liked it for the 16 X 10 size but not the 720 resolution. I now use the 671. Resolution is better but I would still like a brighter image.
