  • VANKYO Leisure 510 HD Projector?

Looking for a budget projector for my new garage setup. Come across a few good reviews for the VANKYO and was wondering if anyone has actually used one for their Golf Sim?

I would not buy expecting home theatre results and likely would need some calibration for colours, but based on the reviews the prices seem good. I saw another post for these projectors yesterday and believe it was the cheaper one with around 3000 lumens and was surprised people did not look to spend $100 more for the one with way more lumens.

Dax, I get the importance placed on Lumens, but what about Contrast, what importance does that play?

mphugh this is what I was talking about re results. I have never tested nor seen these projectors in action and am only mentioning whatI would expect to see from my home theatre experience. I would expect that the contrast abilities of these projectors to be questionable, but at the price it seems to be a pretty good deal (a bulb costs more for most projectors). I would still expect a pretty good result based on the user reviews I read. The only other measure that I would not be sure about is build quality. I have not chck d, but maybe there are some YouTube reviews that could provide some insight.

for me, I think contrast is pretty important.

Just checked and it does not look like this projector is 1080p?

EDIT, must have looked at the wrong one, on Amazon it says it is 1080p. Second edit, the details show a native resolution for this projector that is not 1080p resolution. However, the 6000 lumen projector for less than $100 more does appear to support a 1080 native resolution (please note that it does not state 1080p only 1080, another projector in the comparison list does note 720p). I am feeling a little less enthusiastic on these projectors now that I am taking a bit more of a detailed look.

Almost to good to be true, maybe worth a punt for the price. Even going down the second hand route I might not end up with anything better

You got me looking at VANKYO. I'm waiting to find out whether or not their Keystone adjustments will allow for a ceiling mount which will accommodate a swing with a club while avoiding the shadow effect.

There is a very detailed review on Amazon that seems to genuinely go through the pro's and con's. Worth a read. I have the same issue in my setup im not sure if i can ceiling mount as i think i will get a shadow as the ceiling almost slopes away from the screen. (10ft height at the screen an gets to about 9ft at the back of the room - with is around 18ft in length) Im thinking of boxing the projector infront of the screen

The Vankyo V630 has the keystone correction, angles no longer bother you. Adjust the image within 45 degrees to get the best shape

You can look for user manual on the website for other models
If someone has one set up w/ golf simulator would be nice to have a review ....

The V630 is only available in the US I believe. Also I needed a short throw for my setup after doing yet more research. I’ve gone for a second hand optoma gt1080. Would love to see a golf sim review on the Vankyo tho

I got the eh460st and it works great incl the hdcast feature which i use for my apple devices (performance fitting app form foresight ) when not used for TGC.

i have it about 8ft from screen for a full 16:9 ft screen. Slightly tilted to avoid the larger offset.

I've got one of these cheap Chinese projectors that I've currently using until I can upgrade to an Optoma Darbee. One thing to keep in mind is that the "lumen" or brightness ratings can't be compared to the mainstream brands. Mainstream brands like Optoma, BenQ etc use a international standard ANSI Lumen rating, whereas these off brands often use "Lux" or some other "Lumen". From what I've seen on reviews of most of these is that whatever number they throw out there, it's probably about 20-25% of an equivalent ANSI Lumen. So if an Optoma is 3000 ANSI Lumens, and this Chinese one is 6,000. You can guess it's probably closer to 1000-1500 ANSI Lumens, or about half the brightness or less of the Optoma.
