  • advice needed Optoma GT1080 and Epson EH-TW650

I recently purchased a second hand GT1080 from eBay however is didn't fit with my current setup. Today i received a Epson EH-TW650 which is perfect and works great in my environment.

These are the first projectors i have ever purchased and after testing the Epson today is was so much brighter and the picture seemed much better than the GT1080. Which surprised me a lot. I ask the question as im going to sell on the GT1080 as i dont need it but worried it may be faulty since ive seen the comparison to the Epson.

Obviously dont want to sell faulty goods, the guy i bought it from said it had a new lamp fitted.

Any advise or is this expected from the GT1080 compared to a brand new Epson EH-TW650?

    Cheers, Alex

Just depends upon the lumans and from what i've read, they don't exactly always equate to each other from one manufacturer the the next. Just like irons they all say 6 on them but they are different lofts and lengths.

Thanks wbond, the Epson does have higher lumens so it may be that. I didn't question it before i seen the Epson so i guess its ok.

I am considering these projectors but the Epson is available for half the price. I am a bit confused on whether I will cause a shadow using this Epson, as it would have to be mounted behind the player as my screen will be 160” wide and this is not Short Throw according to Projector Central.

What are your set up dimensions with this projector?

        Thanks

Ive got the projector offset as im hitting offset. So the projector is situated on the ceiling back right of the garage. im 8 ft from the screen and the projector is about 13ft from the screen. Plugging my channel lol but watch this video of my setup so you can see where i mounted it I am projecting a 4:3 ratio tho so bear that in mind.

Thanks. Yes already watched your video - will watch again.

so your projector is 5 feet behind you but offset and you get no shadows?. Interesting.
