  • Ultra Short Throw, why are they not more popular?

I bought a second hand Optoma GT1080 recently and it works just fine but it is currently on the floor, right in front of where I hit from. I planned to ceiling mount it but due to space constraints, it may be in my swing path.

Just been reading about the Optoma GT5000+ and the GT5600, 100inch image from just 30cm sounds ideal. Could also ceiling mount with it a long way out of the way of any errant swings, etc.

Not much price difference, any thoughts?

“ long way out of the way of any errant swings”. But right in the path of the ball flying at +100mph. Does that answer your question?

But that applies to short throw as well?

MY Optoma 1080 Darbee is ~ 6 ft back from the screen and never gets hit. Would love to see a 4500 lumens short throw 16:10 with .5 throw ratio.

Short throw projectors tend to be directly above the golfers head, so assuming a normal golf swing it should never get hit with a club and the ball is being hit away from the projector not directly towards it. A ball could in theory ricochet back and hit the projector but the speed coming back will be far less.
