Does anyone have any experience of using floor mount enclosures for projectors in their simulator. They do seem to have the advantage of being portable (so that you could position them to fill the screen in 4 3 aspect ratio for golf simulator, and then move the position of the projector if you wanted to watch tv/movie in 16 9 aspect). Are there any downsides to this ?

I think the cost is the only real downside, I have seen them for $250-400, where it seems like it could be made for less than $50 of materials. I am going to try to build my own before splurging on the floor mount. I currently just have my projector sitting on the floor on my stance mat and it actually is working out well. For me, I am not concerned about bounce back, I'm more concerned if my kids are playing, shanking shots and whipping their clubs all around.

I made one out of mdf boards with a turf top. I had the materials lying around house so I thought I would give it a try. It was an easy build. After a week of use I scraped it and opted for a ceiling projector mount. I frankly found the floor enclosure to be more of a nuisance with regards to cable management. I also found it made putting awkward during sim play. There are sliding rail projector mounts that allow for adjusting projection. https://www.allsportsystems.com/golf...tor-mounts.php

I experimented with my mock version of it. I put the projector down with a hardwood covering on top of it. I moved from 6.6-7 ft normally back to 10 ft from the screen. I instantly could tell I was worried about striking the board, especially with my 3 wood. If someone has a high launch angle and lower speed, it MIGHT be okay but why take the risk?
I'd rather not mess with my swing to protect an expensive piece of equipment. I ended up ceiling mounting my projector and haven't looked back (forward actually) since.
Oh and I saw one on ebay going for $100 (metal version).
