We have a 16' L 14' W x 12' H room to use for our sim. Our landlord isn't comfortable with us putting holes in the ceiling to mount a short throw projector, so I'm trying to find alternatives (below) or see if anyone here might have some other ideas. Screen size will be 13' x 7.4' (16:9) about 6 in. Depending on the solution I find will kind of dictate what kind of projector we'll be using.
Possible Solutions
1) Place projector on shelf on opposite wall - I'm not sure if having the projector on a shelf on the opposite wall would cast shadows (I'm 5'5). Distance to screen would be approx. 15 feet.
2) Sit projector on floor or tripod - This seems like it would increase damage risk with errant shots. Thus, projector would need to be at minimum on the side of me and either a) centered with screen and me hitting off-center or b) the projector be off-center and use horizontal keystone to position display and possibly lose some image quality.
3) That's it, honestly. That's all I got for non-mounting solutions. So if anyone has any other advice or feedback, I'm all ears!
