  • Placement from the screen

So I had narrowed done a few models of projectors and I just had a few questions

When I was on the BenQ site and messing with their calculator I noticed the models i picked out both sat about 132" from the screen. My hitting area is only 120" from the screen. Will that cause a shadow?

The Optoma GT1080HDR only site about 96" from the screen so it is slightly in front of my hitting area.

What would the best option be?

Depends on how high your ceilings are. You could always draw it out and do some math to determine. Also most projectors from benq have a little bit of zoom on them. I would suggest going to the calculator at projector central and typing in the numbers there. It is easy to use and should give more information (it also allows you to play around with the zoom that the projector has to determine length from the screen. The other factor to consider is how low your projector will be mounted from the ceiling (this will depend on your mount). Projector central will also tell you how much above or below the centre of the lens the top of the image will be on your screen.

      Benq Mounted closer to ceiling.
optima first 16:9 screen has to be mounted 16 inches above the image. Needs at least 10.5 inch ceiling to flush mount optoma to get 9 foot image. This will differ depending on screen size.
projector central def helps lay out options.
