  • Best projector for uneekor led

What’s the best projector to use with a uneekor qed I will be running 4:3 on a 12x9 screen and I will have a 5ft deep enclosure and total depth is 19ft

  • #2
I would love to know this answer as well. My budget is 2k. My built is the exact same. I am framing walls now. 12x9 screen, QED, touch screen, data screen. Got my computer, QED, camera. Now looking for screen and projector. Please let me know what you find out. The guy that is helping me is pushing a Optoma ZH406ST. I would like the projector to be at 10' from the screen. Need to know what Height to put it at as well. Also I will be putting an 8" ramp by the screen so the screen will be off the ground 8" and the ceiling is 10'.

Comp specs are solid for what you are building.

i have the same setup dimensions and the same enclosure. Did you end up finding a projector that would work for that?

www.projectorcentral.com is a great resource. It'll help you find a projector that works for your space.

At what distance would you like to mount?
              How high is your ceiling?
              What is your budget?

ceiling is 9.5 ft high, probably going to mount around 8 ft, hoping to stay between $1,000-1,500

I'm no expert but the Optoma GT1080 and GT1090 seem like good options in that price rance/throw distance. If you have an enclosure - just beware that certain shorter throw projectors (both of the ones I mentioned, included), require you to mount the projector ~12-15"" above the top of the image - and then the enclosure will block part of the projection. I'm not sure if that applies to you or not.

Agreed on above I’d go with one of those

I ended up finding a skytrak which is what I originally had wanted but was sold out
im really new to sims I just started golf 2 years ago and only played on a sim a handful of times

just using it with a net return mainly for the range mode and in mean time going to sim bars in area this winter then if I realize I love sims I’m going to do something high end
if I don’t love it I will maybe get a uneekor or a flightscope kit

this is just a test for me in terms of space and seeing how often I use before I spend 20k plus as I have the tendency to buy stuff and never use it

I'm having a similar dilemma about projector distance and type also. I'm considering the GT1090 -- but I'm concerned about the distance to the screen.
I'm getting a Uneekor QED. My ceiling height is 9'9" -- and I'm limited to about 18' depth from screen. I'm planning to have the hitting pad between 9' and 14'. QED needs 3-1/2 feet behind to be mounted on the ceiling. I'm planning to put the projector on ceiling closer to the screen compared to QED. My screen would be about 9'x16' (or slightly smaller).

The issue is that most short throw projectors would be 7'-8' from the screen ... and normal projectors would be 16' or more from the screen. I'd like something between these. I'm concerned that if I'm hitting from something like 11' -- and the projector is 7-1/2 feet -- that there is a chance I could hit the projector. One option is to move the hitting mat closer -- but I like the idea of at least 10' from screen to hitting mat.

I'm having trouble coming up with reasonable (price) projector options. Am I missing something?

                          Thanks.

Hi Ph15 I don't see how a GT1090 can work with 9'9" ceilings and a 9' screen. GT1090 needs to be mounted ~16" above the top of the image. Maybe if you angle it up and do a keystone adjustment? I'm not sure but I'd get expert advice before doing that.

My hitting zone is 11' from screen and my projector is mounted at 7.5'. I've hit thousands of balls and never hit it. It would take a tremendous sky ball with your driver to hit it. You can use a wire basket to protect it if you are worried about it.

The BenQ TH671ST Projector I think would be around 12' for a 16x9 screen.

If you're not already using www.projectorcentral.com, it's a great resource for finding projectors that work for your space.

Thanks -- I did commit & buy the HT671ST today. I had been using projectorcentral -- and it suggested that this projector should be placed a little closer to the screen than I was planning. But the online reviews & videos like this projector a lot -- and I'll use it mainly for golf and I have a basement without any ambient light -- so I think it will work well.
