  • Optimizing Projector Position

OK, so in the continuous effort of tweaking to get the absolute best out of the equipment I have, I am adjusting the position of my projector after my recent upgrade. I am now using the Optoma ZU606TST-W – a WUXGA 1920 x 1200 16:10 Laser projector so I need to move where the projector is mounted backwards to obtain optimum placement. I am space constrained in the screen area due to a bulkhead, so I have a Max height of screen of 84-85”. Screen is 144” wide.

I have two options: (1) use projector’s Native 16:10 and calculate distance to achieve maximum height of picture (this would give me an 84” x 135” picture at the Native 16:10 – so minor black bars on each side approx. 5.5” wide) or (2) Force 16:9 and calculate maximum width (this would give me an 81” x 144” at 16:9 with minor black bars top and bottom of about 1.5”).

I think either would be a great experience and as such am leaning towards option (1) in order to preserve Native Resolution and maximize height. Would anyone select option (2) and if so – why?

    Thanks in advance - Jason
