    Advice on projector 4:3 placement

Hello All, Newbie to the forum and am overwhelmed by all the info. I'm setting up a sim and need some advice on placement. My garage has a 9'4"ceiling height. My enclosure is 9x10x7. I'd like to use a ceiling mount projector between 15-17 feet from the screen. All the 4:3 projectors I'm seeing on ebay (used by the way), recommend throw distance around 6 or 7 feet. I'm planning on a tee 12 feet or so from screen. Any and all help on this issue is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Limmy

I'm 10 feet away from my screen, 10x10 enclosure and I hit the ceiling regularly with wedges, why would you want to be so far away? I would also worry about casting a shadow if the projector is 3 - 5 feet behind you. Best placement for projector is directly above the ball position.

have a look at projector central will help narrow down a projector https://www.projectorcentral.com/projectors.cfm

For comparison I have a 10x7 screen and my projector is 9-1/2 feet away (BenQ TH671ST)

Spaz, thanks for the input... I'll move my tee forward to under 10 feet. I'm going to get a Mevo+ monitor and they advise being no closer than 8 feet from the screen. I am going to think about shortening the length of the enclosure. Thanks again, Rick

I agree with spaz. 12 feet is too far away for an enclosure that short in height. You need to hit from closer up. I'd be inside of 10 feet if I were you. I hit from 7.5 feet away for a 10 foot high enclosure. Then look for a projector you can mount over the ball so you want your throw distance to be roughly the same as your hitting distance. You have low-ish ceilings so you'll run into shadow issues if you start going too far behind you. Lastly, 7 feet is quite deep for an enclosure. If you trimmed that down it would allow you to hit from closer up. I'm guessing the reason you're wanting to hit from so far back is that you're worried about hitting the enclosure.

Thank you, 3on3, Appreciate your info... I'm probably going to knock a couple feet off the length of the enclosure. I'm leaning toward the Mevo+ unit and they want you no less than 8 feet from screen. I understand that there shouldn't be any worries of hitting a projector above the ball. Thanks again... Rick
