Want 4k but can't do 16:9 or 16:10

Unfortunately I can only do 4:3 ratio in the room I am setting up.

Is there a work around to this? most 4k projectors I have found have native and 16:9 ratios.

If anyone knows of one out there please let me know!

Set up the projector to 16:9 or 16:10, filling up the screen vertically and spilling out the sides.
Then use your graphics card tool to create a custom resolution that fits your screen horizontally. The resolution is still 4k

Thanks.. by doing this you are sharing your computer screen? or using it as your monitor?

I want to have a computer screen separate from the projector.

Extend the display to as many monitors/projectors you have and set up different resolutions for each. If you mirror the screen on a projector at 4:3, it will do the same ok the monitor and won't fill the monitor screen, or skew the image

They may have native 16:9 or 16:10 but can likely do 4:3 as well. And as noted above, you can customize a resolution in your graphics card. What are your screen dimensions?

Thank you for your help! Looks like 4k is not an option since my throw distance would need to be about 10 feet

I think you could come pretty close. Here's one that would mount 12.5 feet away for your screen size in 4:3:

You might be able to find others if you're willing to spend the money. They aren't cheap lol.

Yeah.. I went with a 1080 and hopefully 4k will get better at throw distances in the future.
