1:1 Aspect Ratio - floor mounted projector help

Hi everyone - Im sure this question has been answered in the 60+ pages of posts, but I am not quite finding it after about an hour of looking. Additionally - I know NOTHING about projectors. There are so many options and things to consider.

My setup I am planning is described here: New Sim Build. Need Help/Redommendations - Golf Simulator Forum (comment #19)

I would like to do a floor mounted projector in my garage that I can pick up and move when Im done golfing. My net will extend back to 10 feet and my hitting area will probably be around 12' to 13' away from screen. So I think I can safely mount this thing on the ground 5' to 10' away from the screen and be OK.

It is in my garage that has lights either ON or OFF so I may need brighter lumens (unless I put something over my net) and in the spring/summer I might open the garage doors to let some air in - which again might need some more lumens.

Resolution isnt the highest priority, but of course the more the better.

The last piece that is probably my most important is my screen is 9X9 and I'd like to fit the whole screen. I cant for the life of me figure out which projectors allow you to adjust aspect ratios to custom.

Are there any projectors out there that fit what I need in a 1000-1500 price range or am I dreaming? Do I just need to settle on a cheaper alternative that isnt as bright or clear, can still sit on the floor about 8 feet away from screen, and will be 4:3 leaving some space on my screen blank?

Yall seem like such experts in this area. I really appreciate any advice.

I responded to your post in the other thread.

Long story short --- you can set a custom resolution in your graphics card to fill a square screen, but it degrades the image so much that it just is not worth it. Custom resolutions are fine if your image already comes close to filling the screen in its native resolution and you just need to eliminate a few inches of dead screen space. But when you're talking about going from 81 inches high in 4:3 to 108 inches high to fill the whole screen, the image quality goes to crap.

Most all movie and gaming projectors allow you to toggle between different aspect ratios but you're limited to 4:3, 16:9 or 16:10.

Just embrace the 4:3. It's still nice and tall and gives you a good quality picture.

Regarding the lumens --- just keep the lights in the garage off while you play. No need to try to dim them. Black out the room completely.
