Trying to find a projector for Uneekor Setup with optix, LCD

    Hi all,
I am wanting to get a true 16'x9' image on an 18'x10' screen that is to be part of my Uneekor EYEXO build. My hitting area will be 9' from screen and due to my son's height (6-3) to avoid shadows my max projector distance calculate to be about 13' from screen. The EYEXO will be at 5.5' from screen so I could mount a projector anywhere from 6.5' to 13' from screen. I would very much like to avoid the screen flickering from the projector in the optix cameras so I understand LDC is the way to go. For the life of me I can't seem to find a projector that meets these requirements. My budget is not unlimited but I can stomach a decent projector I just can seem to find one. Will be mounted on a crossbar at 10. Any help would be appreciated. If some of Uneekor guys care to chime in and tell me the flicker isn't a problem I would love to hear it, definitely opens up some options.

    Thanks
    Stan

Have you tried going on projector central and doing a filter on the throw calculator? I just purchased the LCD Epson 1080 for my screen size (210") and that's still 15.5 ft away. The shorter the throw the more expensive it becomes for the LCD when I looked

Do you have any shadow problems at that distance?

Thanks for the reply. Yes sir I have spent hours there. Honestly I may have missed a good projector fit early as I was trying to learn about them. I will start with a blank paper tomorrow and try again. Seems like everything I found based on search for throw and size was >$4000. I may have to settle for a little shadow.

Haven't installed it yet but had Best Buy come out and look at the space and they think it should be fine. It also helps that I'm 5'7".
I think the Maxell MC-WX8265 will fit your throw distance. Projector central says its $2700

i am in the exact situation you are. there are only 2 lcd laser projectors that will work. they start around $5000.00 usd and need a different lens $2000.00 usd.
too much $$ for me. going with a laser dlp and know that there will be flicker from the behind golfer with optix swing camera. uneekor might back door the frame rate later.
who knows?there might be a way to slow down the fps too. hoping something will update in the future.

I should be able to get sim up and running in 2-3 weeks with the Epson 1080 so will let you know. If it doesn't work will exchange it for a BenQ DLP

Does anyone know if Metal Halide LCD projectors will flicker? There are a couple of those that might fit my specs.

Corsec Metal Halide is the type of bulb that's used to provide light for the projector, so it won't have any impact on flicker vs no flicker with the Swing Optix. You really only want to compare the picture technology; LCD won't flicker vs DLP which will flicker.

Did you end up buying a projector?

Thanks for that. That was my impression, but I was hoping for verification. I have not purchased a projector yet. I have ordered my sim and the enclosure, still trying to figure our what compromises I am willing to make for the projector as there doesn't seem to be a projector that really fits my build. Kind of surprising actually. I realize that the technology issue is limiting my parameters so I am probably just going to live with the flicker and choose a projector to give me the best sim experience.

Currently thinking the Panasonic PT-VMW50U might be my best bet.  Its gonna give some shadow issues and its not 4K but it seems to be the best bang for the buck and minimal compromises.

Corsec another option is to look for a used Sony or Epson projector that has different lens options. I can't remember the models off-hand but you can find them on projectorcentral.com. I recall on a different thread here or somewhere else where someone bought a Sony and short throw lens for much cheaper than new, so something to consider.

Can you share which projector fit your situation? I’m in a similar boat right now.

Installed the Epson 1080 LCD projector with the EyeXO and Optix cameras. Mounted around 15.5 ft from the 16' x 9' screen. Pretty happy with the outcome.
