Projector Setting in my new simulator

I have followed all of the information available on Projector Central as well as my projector Mfg instructions for throw distance, etc. I have everything set exactly as instructed, but I am not getting the size image that I should? My viewable screen is 93" x 111". My Optoma 1090HDR DLP, set at 4:3 aspect ratio, mounted 6'2 from the screen and 12" above the image should produce an 84" x 111" image. I am only getting about 71" x 96". Can anyone help me? My PC is a Legion 7 with I7 processors. Is there a setting or something that I am missing?

Can you go to video setting s and see what resolution you are using? Might not be 4:3

I did change the settings in my Graphics Card to 4:3 ratio and it did not do anything. I have also changed the resolution sizes in Windows. That does something, but not what I need. So for now, I have the computer resolution set like it's 16:9, but 4:3 ratio on the projector. It looks great, but I know I should be able to fill out more of the screen. It really seems like I have to move the projector back. I used the calculator on Projector Central and Optoma site. Both gave me the same results. I think it needs to move back about a foot or so.

Try setting it to 1600x1200

1. Did you spin the focus on the lens? I set my focus to 1/4 or 1/8 of a turn from the widest position then held the projector up with it on the get a close distance. After mounting I adjusted in small increments to get the perfect picture.
2. I use the projector settings at 16:9 then create a custom resolution in the Nvidia Control at 1440x1080. When you move to a 4:3 aspect ratio you are just cutting off the extra pixels on each side and Windows seems to like 16:9 aspect ratios so I choose to change the aspect ratio with software vs in the projectors menu settings.
3. You probably just have the projector to close...Projector Central is a great tool but I have even found myself using the wrong aspect ratio or using meters instead of inches or feet. Just a user error on my part.

I double checked and even used the Calculator on the Optoma website. The numbers are the same. I think you are right, I need to move it back 6"to12". Not the end of the world, but asking your wife to stand on a ladder again to help you...that is a different story. Lol.

Is the very front of the lens 6’2” from the screen or is this where the mount was placed?

The front of the lens is 6'2 from the screen. I took the projector off of the stem and moved back a bit and it appears that made the image size increase. I don't want to have to move it back, but I may have to do that.

Hi Tom. I am having the exact same issue with a nearly identical setup to yours (GT1090HDR, Legion 7 with i7, 4:3 ratio). I have a 12 x 9 screen in the garage and was hoping to get around 142 x 106 projection. Multiple websites said I should need just under 8 feet from screen to lens. In reality, I had to go back over 9 feet (~9.5ish) to fill the screen. This made for an interesting afternoon of staring at the ceiling in my garage wondering what mistakes I could have made as this location happened to be right where my garage door opener hangs. I was able to eventually tuck it beside my garage door opener and use the screen shift function to get the picture back where it needed to be. Not ideal, but should work out ok.

It seems in this instance that the online guidance may just be wrong? I take comfort knowing that if I did mess something up, at least there is someone else out there that made the same mistakes! Let me know if you are ever able to resolve this. I'll do the same.

I felt the same David. I did all the research and scratched my head and wondered why it was not working out as it should. It is strange. Before I even started my project, I had a jackshaft garage door opener installed - $800.00. It's great. There is nothing hanging above me anywhere...

When I used Projector Central my picture didnt fill the whole screen. So I just used it as a starting point (I think I ended up close to 1'-0" further back) and did all the fine tuning from a ladder.
