Projector Orientation for Ceiling Mount?

I'm going to ceiling mount my OPT GT1090. But, considering building a suspended platform for it instead of actually hanging it from the ceiling. I am assuming that if it is sitting upright I will have have to position it 16 inches below the top of the screen instead of 16 inches above for a ceiling mount. Is that correct? And will that throw off the geometry or positioning of the image on the screen?

As I though on this more, I realize that the projector must be upside down if it is going to be positioned in the ceiling position. Or the image would be projecting upward to the ceiling.
