  • 4:3 vs 16:9 / 16:10

I had this buried in another thread...any thoughts?

My screen dimensions are 12.5w x 9.5h, when I run the calculator for my selected projector (BenQ TK700STi)
    https://www.projectorcentral.com/Ben...r-pro.htm#calc

    I get throw distances of:
    4:3 15 -- 18'
    16:9 11'3" -- 13'6"
    16:10 12'6" -- 15"
Q1: my screen dimensions are 4:3...should I do go with this and mount at ~15'?
Q2: Is it a better experience to be at 16:9 or 16:10 with black borders on top/bottom?

My ball position will be ~10' from impact screen.

I plan to have ceiling recessed lighting (LED cans) 2-3' in front of ball position (towards impact screen).

Q3: Will lighting from overhead wash out projection image?

    Q1 Yes.
    Q2 No
Q3 Depends on how bright the lights are. Best would be narrow beam LED lights directly over hitting spot.

Some people want to make the screen look like real life. For me i don't really care since I know for sure I'm playing sim golf in a room which no matter what you do is nothing like a real golf course. i.e. no real swirling wind, perfectly flat lies, perfectly flat putts, no cart girl etc. .
