HDMI Source

I have a TK700STi connected to a gaming laptop (HDMI cable ~30'). While running FSX2020 software the projector display on the hitting screen loses HDMI connection and projects an error message: Identifying Source.

So I'm temporarily losing the connection between projector and laptop.

Anyone else experience this?

Possible culprits:
1. HDMI cable (although i've swapped out with another with same problem)
2. Projector HDMI input (possible but not likely)
3. Laptop HDMI connection
4. Laptop requirements (i5 processor vs recommended i7)

Any recommendations on troubleshooting this?

Check that your computer isn't going into sleep mode or turning the screen off. I was having a similar issue after about 15 minutes of hitting on the range.
changed the power settings to never and haven't had an issue since.

If the connection drops and then comes back by itself try some contact cleaner in the female HDMI port on your computer and the projector..

Update:

TLDR: HDMI cable was culprit.

I ruled out computers by subbing in 2 other computers with same video dropout.

I contacted BenQ and they indicated that HDMI cables longer than 15' can be problematic. In order to confirm this I ordered a 15' cable and connected directly from PC to projector (ie I'm ceiling mount and had the 30' HDMI cable inside the wall to the ceiling and over to the projector thru the ceiling.

15' cable worked great! So it has to be the cable or cross-talk in the walls or ceilings.

I purchased another 30' HDMI cable same results

I purchased a more expensive HDMI Active Cable. Same Results

The HDMI cable is routed thru the same ceiling hole where I wire power ... so maybe it was the interference from the power wire. I repeated experiments with HDMI cables separating the proximity to the power. Same results...drop video.

I continued my search for HDMI cable and purchased a modest price 8k Ultra High Speed HDMI Cable. This worked ... both separate from the power box and when inserted thru the same box.
