  • 10-13ft away ceiling mount from 177" 16:10 screen help?

First time SIM here and just purchased a 13ft wide x 8ft tall screen and enclosure from topshelf. hitting area right at about 10.5ft from screen and have a 9.5ft ceiling with outlet 13ft away from screen which allows me to mount projector anywhere from about 10ft- 14ft from 177" diagonal screen. i'm having a hard time figuring out which projector will work. something like an optoma or benq in the $1k range preferably. too far away for short throw projectors i believe? any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

You will likely want a short throw. The Benq 671ST looks like it would work fine. If you want 4k, there are others out there but you won't find a quality one under $1k. I put your specs into projector central and you can mount the 671ST anywhere between 9'-7" & 11'-6" from the screen. Don't be afraid to mount the projector directly over the ball.

many thanks! that looks like a winner. putting it right over my ball would be about 10.5ft and hoping to mount it as flush to the 9.5ft ceiling as possible

The optimal position for the 671ST would be to have the center of the lens 2" below the top of the viewing area and sitting level. You can mount it higher, but will need to angle it down and use the vertical keystone correction. Mounting high and angling down can sometimes cause issues with shadows from object on the ceiling in front of the projector (like a ceiling mounted launch monitor).

Also note you need to locate the lens centered horizontally on the screen since there is no horizontal keystone correction on this projector.
