I am new to the simulator game, and wanted to find a projector that would work in a medium dark room. I was about to pull the pin on an Optoma GT1080HDRX (3800 Ansi Lumens) when I ran across a guy selling used Optoma EH415ST's on Ebay for $280. 3500 Ansi Lumens. Supposed to have less than 1000 hrs. I offered $222 without the remote ( bought one on Amazon that is a direct replacement for $16). The Optoma came in an Optoma package, and looked in very good condition. Unit arrived with the hours set to 0, so no idea whether it was re-furbed with a new bulb, or just reset. So far, the image quality is good and it is bright enough for my room.
I set it up at 7' from my 10x8 screen, set in 4:3 mode, and about 24" from 10' ceiling. I'm hitting from 9', so the projector should not be in danger. So far the image has been good. It has 10W speakers, and they do a good job on Youtube videos. I have a Skytrak with Game Improvement software--still working on a PC so I can move up to GSpro.
The remote that comes with the Optoma does not work all functions, so negotiate with the guy to credit for no remote and buy the one I referenced on Amazon.
As of the date of this post, he has sold 26, and has 8 left
