  • Projector for Mevo plus setup

I have pretty much figured out my whole sim setup besides for the projector. The issue I’m running into is that I need a projector that mounts above my hitting area and will fill my 11’ 9” x 8’ 9” 4:3 screen. The sim will be in the last stall of a 3 stall garage with the only uncontrollable light coming from the garage door windows. The rough layout of the sim is in the picture attached.

The projector needs to be 13ft-14ft from the screen to be right above the hitting mat. I found the https://www.projectorcentral.com/Ben...tor-Review.htm and it will fit perfectly but I am concerned about the 2300 lumens. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I am no expert but when I was shopping for a projector most advice that I found was to avoid LED projectors. To me 2300 lumens would be a deal breaker. I ended up with a Sony laser projector that is a longer throw than what I was really looking for but it is 5000 lumens and I got a good deal on it. I barely have enough room for it, it's a ways behind the hitting zone. There is a small amount of shadowing but it's not very noticeable.

You don't need to limit to 4:3 projectors you can look at them all. Just make sure you cover the width of the screen. So put that in the selector tool. You can do a custom resolution later to slim it up to your exact screen. This should open up all the units. Our screens are huge compared to what a project is designed for (home theater most of the time). Find something 4000 lumens or higher. You are going to be turning off a bit of the light from the projector with that resolution so more lumens will be better. Laser is great, bright LED seems like it is good as well, but cheap falls to bulb based units. I have a ViewSonic 748-4k its like $800 today, 4K, 4000 lumens. Does fine for me but is is longer throw, which works in my setup. I find with this cheaper projector if I try and use all the brightness it washes out the picture.

        Update

After taking the advice that 2300 would not be enough brightness I decided on a used Panasonic VZ580 as it is 5000 lumens and 1920x1200. For my setup I can accommodate a longer throw distance and the 1920x1200 will allow for me to scale it down to 1600x1200 for 4:3 vs the 1440x1080 of other projectors I was looking at. I will give an update once it is in place.
