Projector placement

I already know where I'm going to stick my 1080HDR based on Projector Central but now I'm reading BenQ's website and they're recommending 4' behind tee area, which would be an insanely large image. I'm going to be 6' from screen (about 3-4' in front of tee) for a 12x9 screen.

Where did most of you place your short throw in relation to the tee box?

Location is all dictated by manufacturer and the throw ratio they use for any given projector. Optoma was much closer to the screen vs the benq I was looking at with similar features/prices. Vertical offset was also another big difference, Optoma had to be mounted higher than the benq and by a lot. Also you have to be careful if it has a fixed lens or a lens with manual zoom. Fixed you have to be right on the money to get it to fit the screen the way you want it. Zoom has more tolerance in placement of the projector.

I can rig up a mount for the stem using 1-5/8" unistrut, spring nuts and lock washers. That takes care of distance from screen adjustments while keystone and stem length can handle mounting height.

I think the only dimension I have to really concern myself with is horizontal alignment in that case, right?

The room has a 14' ceiling so height isn't an issue so long as the stem is sufficiently long.

Correct, horizontal could be an issue. Here is a link to how I did mine so i could move it front to back and side to side. I can't believe i've had this projector now for 8 years. Wow has time flown. Certainly didn't think it's been that long, i think I really need an upgrade now.
