How bright is your pj?

Can you list your pj model and dimensions of screen and whether you think it is bright enough.

I have dual home theater/sim setup and use a Epson 5030 which claims 2400 lumens (I think). Plenty bright enough for me, never even thought about it being an issue. Different screens reflect different amounts of light (and backing makes a difference too) so it might matter as much what screen is being used as what projector. I use the Par2pro HD screen with a light colored tan canvas behind as backing.

There are paints that increase the gain and claim to double the brightness. Anyone have any experience with this?

These paints are for painting the wall for those that want to forgo using a screen in your home theatre. Some people rave about using paint and have reported great results for no cost. However, I believe the amount of effort needed to achieve great results is eager high and it is a bit tedious.

Yeah I used "screen goo" for my media center/pj. Looks awesome but definitely takes a special touch. Not sure you could use it for a golf application.

I'll post on the home theater forum. Someone over there suggested spraying the paint on the screen for similar results.

Did they suggest hitting golf balls into the painted screen? Did they say give it a try or say I did it and hit golf balls into it?

If you want a better quality viewing screen for movies, put a drop down movie screen.

The deep black and contrast between the lighter and brighter colors in movies is the role of the high contrast ratio needed for home theaters. Wheres as this high contrast ratio is not as is important for golf simulator image. The totally controlled lighting in a home theater allows a supeior image and does not need a bright (high lumen) image that will only washout the quality images in s home theater. The constant in a home theater is a quality screen - the technology for screens will not change appreciably compared to the projector technology. Thus often $$ are spent on an excellent screen knowing this is less likely to be replaced compared to a projector. Thus if one would want the best quality image for a home theater using a projector suited for a golf simulator the best approach, as mentioned above, would be to have a different screen for watching movies. The quality will not be as good as a fixed screen but definitely much better in comparison to an impact screen.

that is the projector I was thinking about going with. has anyone tried using this for a sim?
