I've been looking at projectors for a few weeks now and cant make decision. My screen will be 12x10 with the optishot, and i will be using corys par2pro hd impact screen. The setup will be in my garage inside a netting/blackout screen frame that is 13x10x10 . I assume my projector will need to be 4:3 aspect ratio to fill the screen.. i dont see myself watching to many movies or tv out there so its going to be mainly used for golf only... id like to stay below 800, preferably around 500$ and something that fills the screen the most. Im trying to mount the projector about 10 feet back on the frame bar as ill be hitting from around there also. But i can mount it further back if needed. The benq 1080 and 1085 seemto not fill the screen as much as id like on projectorcentral so im looking for others

Did you try playing with the zoom feature that is avail with the benq when using the projector central calculator ? I would have thought the 1085st would likely have worked at 10 or 11 feet.

I have not.. i was using the website on my tablet and zoom bar wasnt working. Ill try on on my pc. Im not even sure what the zoom feature is.. id still like to only be around 500$ but if theres nothing similar for the price ill go with benq. I can change aspect ratio from native 16,9 to 4,3 right?

You've got it right. You either need to move the projector back to get 12' wide image or you can put 1' wide black material on each side. The other issue you have now is brightness, farther back you go, less bright the image is. Instead of short throw, can you go with a standard throw and mount it farther back? Need to be careful of your shadow though.

im still leaning towards the 1080st benq. its a few hundred more then i wanted to spend but i guess its worth it. these reviews seem pretty good. i shouldnt be in the way of the projector if i stand around 9 or 10 feet should i?

I've got this projector because my screen is 4:3 and I heard that it is used quite a bit in 4:3 applications. I have not technically used it yet because my enclosure and screen are just getting done. I've heard from Benq and www.projectorpeople.com (where I bought it) that it is well liked. It is a relatively new model. It also has pretty high lumens and a mid-range throw ratio, not too close not too far.

I have been looking at the Epson EX7240 Pro WXGA 3LCD Projector Pro Wireless, 3200 Lumens Color Brightness

Is cheaper than the BQ and is wireless which is a big deal for me. Big lumens which will work better since I will be using it in a garage with windows.
