  • Anyone find projector central calculations wrong?

    Hi Everyone,

I have basically completed my sim build and most of it was based on the calculations that the projector central website gave me for my projector.

I have a Benq HT1085st projector and using it at 4:3, have a Nvidia GEForce GTX 970, my screen is 114"W x 96H and I am using a Protee so my sensor pad and light need to be exact.

I set my sim up to have the projector 9'-8" from the screen and then my sensor pad right behind it but now when I installed the projector it needs to be 10'-8" so it has thrown everything off.

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to adjust the resolutions (which I have been playing with) to make it fit at 4:3 on my projector? I can't move my sensor pad back anymore or there will not be enough room to swing.

    HI Joey

Unfortunately throw ratio math is just a guideline. The device connected can produce a different image size. In our showroom, we only have 1 projector model but several different CPU's. The image size varies depending on the CPU being connected to it. Also, negative keystone can reduce the image size. I know you don't want to hear this but you might try the Optoma ES200ST. It has a .49 throw with digital zoom so if it is off a little you can just zoom it in our out.

He had an optical zoom, so that helps a little. Set your pc to display 1600x1200 and your projector to 4:3. Your found distance sounds about right based on my setup with the same PJ....I'm at 12ft on a 11.5ft x 8.25ft screen.

I will give it a try goodmatt78. Do you set TGC to 1600x1200 also as you go to enter the game?

The GT1080 was almost exactly correct on the site. Did you use the 4:3 calculator on the site and not the 16:9?
