    Hi all

My final purchase is becoming my hardest.

I'm looking for a projector that will be about 12ft from the screen and the screen size is 428 X 268 cm.

    It is for skytrack/TGC/PG

Ideally I'd like to take the full screen up and would like to pay under $1000, I'd appreciate any input.

    Thanks

    Scott

Any HD projector will work...that screen is just short of being the exact 16/9 ratio of a 1920x1080 pixel image. Features to look for depend on your situation. If you can mount the projector exactly inline with the screen, then you dont need keystone correction or lens shift. Some projectors feature a zoom lens, which may or may not be needed based on your room setup.

For a calculator that will show image size and brightness based on mounting position, go here: http://www.projectorcentral.com/proj...ulator-pro.cfm

    Thanks shardak
good to know I'm good for 16:9. Pure fluke.
I can have in line so that should save me a bit I'm guessing.

Why would a zoom lens be needed?

    Cheers

Say your projector displays a 100 inch wide image when mounted 12 feet from the screen. You need to get 110 inches to perfectly fill your screen, but you cannot mount the projector any further away than 12 feet. A zoom lens allows you to shrink/enlarge the image a small amount, to get the size exactly how you want it.

In order to fill a 428cm wide screen, it would need to be mounted 20 feet 9 inches from the screen.

You can play with the distances here: http://www.projectorcentral.com/Opto...ulator-pro.htm

You may require a short-throw projector to get the screen size you want. Check out the Benq 1085ST. It will give you a 438cm wide image when mounted between 10-12 feet from the screen. I have the Benq and like it.

Sorry here is me needing spoon feeding again.

I've been using the calculator and most of the ones it tells me I can use I can't find in the uk, the only one that will work is only 4:3 and with my 103x162 inch dimensions that's a no.

Regarding the 16:9 16:10, if they have a zoom lense are you generally able to fit the screen or are they always exactly the 16:9 16:10 ratio?

I have my skytrak and TGC and will be playing my first round tonight, looking forward to it but won't be great without a projector.

        Any advice appreciated

        Cheers

          OK , Finally found one : - Optima W316ST https://www.amazon.co.uk/Optoma-W316...=optoma+w316st

I'm going to have the projector over the golfer that might cause some issues with novice friends but shouldn't be too bad.

Can anyone see any problem with this projector?

          Thanks

Hi Scott, ok, taking things back to basics, how bright will your room be when using the projector? Is your enclosure sealed with blackout fabric? I think the 1085st is the best option for you based on distance and dimensions, but as you say, here in the uk, getting this stuff can be more difficult than in the US.

The 316st may sit too close, at approx 7ft away. I own the tw610st and can honestly say, that as good as it is, with it being on the verge of an ultra short throw, it is very difficult to align it to your screen. Every small movement is magnified.

If I was buying again, I'd go with one that's further away with zoom that would give me a little more control over its position

Thanks, the problem with the 1085 (apart from getting hold of one in the uk) is the fact it doesn't have 16:10 which fills my screen perfectly.

My enclosure can be completely blacked out.

I have ordered the 316ST and hopefully I won't be too frustrated.

I'll let you know how i get on

              Thanks

I run the 1080st at 16:10. You should be able to. It's basically the same.

I have the projector set up and have played a few holes. Wow, I love it. Similar results to others regarding distance but I agree it's probably my indoor swing (gets into my head a lot more than I thought)

Happy with the projector but it's very fiddly to get right and I still need to adjust to get exact but I'll post a pic to show how it's looking up to now soon.

Thanks for all the advice, see you on the tour soon
