Newbie Looking at Projectors to start a launch/simulator build

Hey guys. Does anyone have any experience with this particular projector?
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/391305593883...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
With my basic knowledge of them it appears to tick all of the boxes. 1080p/ 3500 lumens /3D Shorth throw
However, at $200 and it being new, maybe there's something I'm missing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I have never seen that particular projector, but when they say 1080P, they are referring to a supported resolution, which means you can feed that signal into it. What you really are interested in is the native resolution. In this case it is 800 x 600. So even though you can provide it with 1920x1080 you won't actually see that many pixels. To keep the aspect ratio of 16x9, it would display 800x450. Basically it is like hooking up a bluray player to a tube tv

Hmmmm. Ok. I think I get it. Thanks Andy. I'll stick to what everyone seems to like here. Maybe one of the BenQ projectors. By the way, Do I need a short throw projector if my Projector will be ceiling mounted ten feet from my screen? Thanks for your help

I think 10 ft is in that gray area between regular and short throw. It depends on how big of an image that you want. Projector central has a calculator that tells you how big the image can be from a certain distance for any model. Most people use short throw because they can put it close enough to the screen that they don't put a shadow on the picture. From 10 ft away, if you are tall or your ceiling isn't very high, your head will probably be blocking the image at the bottom of the screen. Most people like BenQ or Optoma projectors for the money.

Cool. I will be standing directly under the projector I believe so I don't think I would get in the way of the picture. My Screen size is yet to be determined. I have the capability of a 10' tall by 14' wide screen. I'll try to check out that calculator. Thanks a lot

I haven't decided yet! Haha. I had to talk the wife into the flightscope with e6 software first. So far I have that set up with an awesome hp omen gaming laptop I talked her into as well. For a net, I'm using one of those cheap pop up ones currently. Already balls have gone through the dumb net and into the Sheetrock behind it. So, I'm now looking to buy or build my own cage with projector screen. After that, enough time will have gone by where I can buy a real mat to hit off of and a nice projector without the wife getting too mad. Hahaha

Speaking of which, does anyone know of a decent place that can custom build a hitting cage? Like poles, net, and screen. It may save me some time and hassle as opposed to building one myself.
