  • Want to Buy: Advice on software GC2

Hi guys, I currently have a GC2 on the way and am looking at software options. The forum seems to be a minefield and I can't find the answers to all of my questions so I'm after some advice.

    1. Can I definitely use TGC with GC2?

    2. Are there any apps or softwares just for using like a driving range mode? Don't mind paying but with the FSX mobile you need to have the fsx software and have paid for it.

    3. If I purchase TGC, there seems to be options of tgc 2019 then tgc simulator software and I'm wondering what it is that I actually need? What does each one give me that is different?

    4. Do I bite the bullet and pay 2.5k for the foresight software or is it a rip off?

Also I'm based in the UK if that makes any difference.

    Thanks in advance!

I'm in the same boat and have had my GC2 now for 1 week, and for now opted not to get FSX.
    To answer your questions;

    1. Yes, I currently use TGC2019, and it works great for sim play
    2. Foresight has a free app on the apple app store called Foresight fitting performance. You don't directly see the ball flight, but it has a table with your shots / averages, also an overhead and side view. I think for getting your numbers, it's perfect.
    3. TGC is the older version and TGC2019 is more updated.
    4. This really depends on you, but I personally feel the price is a little extreme. However I must admit I'm tempted to get it as well only for the practice range and practice games like inside 6 ft. I wish they had an option to only buy the modules you want. For sim play, TGC 2019 is awesome.

I have the older FR1 range software without dongle needed that you can have for a sleeve of pro v1’s if you want..pm me.

There’s also other software in beta you can research that works with gc2..

      Cheers

Similar boat -- I have the CG2 but no software yet. I think I read the TGC 2019 does NOT have multiple tee boxes. This does seem odd if you're playing with a scratch golfer and a 20 handicaper or a kid and adult.

FSX seems excessive for individual use.

TGC2019 does have multiple tee boxes. That was one of the big upgrades from TGC. Assuming the designer created multiple.

I've got FSX2020 and TGC (the older version, not TGC2019). I find that range work is better with FSX2020 and playing rounds is better with TGC. The price for courses is just ridiculous for FSX as opposed to TGC. So, to me, it kind of depends on whether you're a range rat and want it to practice or if you would rather spend more time playing rounds on courses you see of TV. I'm more of the former, so I spend the vast majority of my time practicing range work on FSX2020 (and you can do range work on any of the courses you own as well). If you go TGC, I would definitely get TGC2019 for the multiple tee boxes, new courses, and continued support.

I am currently looking to just practice mostly. I am looking at buying a house with a decent garage to house a simulator setup where I can play different courses and also practice on a range. I currently have a net in my back garden so it's more about improvement and watching ball flight, distance etc. 2.5k seems a lot for that though 😬😬

Thank you. I didn't realize they added tee boxes. That makes my decision super easy!
