  • TGC 2019 or e6 Full Version with a new MEVO+

Ok, so I have never used e6 or TGC at all. MEVO+ can be run on an iPad but the graphics are much better on a laptop/dekstop version. I am trying to figure out which way to go. e6 seems nice but it appears from what I see only TGC might be even better? I think the data from the MEVO+ is going to be accurate either way, or no? is TGC not as accurate as e6? I would love to hear some feedback. I guess it is no different from someone who owns a Skytrak or even a FlightScope x3 which way you would go. e6 or TGC? Buying both seems like it would just be way to expensive and a waste. THANK YOU!!

Ii have a Skytrak. originally bought e6 and thought it was good. After seeing many course reviews of TGC2019 on youtube, I purchased it as well. Never went back to e6 after that...
as for accuracy, I find it hard to answer. I always feel that the ST range reads me a almost a club short vs IRL but when I play TGC19, I feel it’s fine. E6 felt more like the ST range.

It's the dilemma most are gong to feel with Mevo+. Also, will other software options be available. Such as the reincarnated JNPG. I've also read a few things about TGC and the first bounce issues. However, the courses look great, not to mention the amount of them.

I honestly think the bigger dilemma is which sim hardware should you get. All software are excellent, having great flight algorithms and certainly the decision between them is personal preference. I personally like TGC however E6 is a nice software. My advice is try the both before making a decision. E6 on the IPad will not look as nice as the PC.

I would recommend TGC2019. I know many are considering the Mevo+ and getting very excited about it. But everyone needs to realize many things before you get excited and jump to it as the savior in golf sim. It is radar technology. Radar is not good at all in sim environments. I’m sorry but it’s true. They can’t read short putts and very short chips. That’s a deal breaker for me right there. If I’m playing sim and have a 12 ft putt that is 8 in downhill, I need to hit a 3 ft soft putt. Guess what the radar can’t read those short putts and you will be stuck with no reads until you hit it hard enough to be 5 to 8 ft and your putt rolls way past the hole.

I have a GC2. It can read a 1 ft soft putt. People complain about putting on sim but if you try a GC2 you will see putting is very realistic. It can read all soft putts and chips. Never have a misread.

As a very experienced simulator person, I don’t see why people are jumping to these radar technologies that aren’t proven. Your best experience will be with a GC2. It is proven technology for many years.

Heres a sad true story. I had a Trackman Rep come to my house a month a go to demo their Trackman 4. I hit shots on Trackman while still reading shots on my GC2 to compare. I compared a series of many shots. Trackman was ok but many were far off. Like a 7 iron had backspin 10,000 when my GC2 read 4600 backspin. Trackman was clearly WAY OFF. I continued testing and it couldn’t read very soft chips and very soft putts which is a big issue for me. My GC2 was still winning as far as superior technology. I ask the rep if I can map and program keyboard keystrokes to control their software. Answer is no. I created the original Air Keyboard IPad key mapping interface. I use it all the time. If I can’t control Trackman software with something similar then that is a big issue with my sim experience.

You have to put metal stickers on balls for Mevo+. You have to have special stickers/marked balls on Uneekor. The GC2 doesn’t require any of this headache. I personally don’t want to deal with these extra requirements.

Anyway, my point is if Trackman can’t handle indoor sim experience well the truth is Mevo+ with radar is not going to either. I don’t know why more people don’t jump to a GC2. It has been and still is the best sim technology and will give you the best sim experience with all short putts/chips and is obviously proven to be accurate. That’s just my opinion but I have tested a ton of hardware and software TGC with GC2 is by far the best combination. I’m sure any GC2 user on here wouldn’t disagree.

I’m not trying to be argumentative but you state you don’t know why more people don’t jump to GC2.

GC2 is 3 times the price new or roughly double the price used. For folks trying to justify just getting a launch monitor that’s a big extra cost. I think with prices coming in around $2k there’s a lot of people thinking it’s pricey but not undoable whereas doubling or tripling that has a lot more sticker shock and people walk away.

For me personally I’m good at $2k for partial parameters and reasonable accuracy. I’ll spend $5-$6k when that gets me good full club and ball data (and in my situation it must be portable so Uneekor not an option). Every person is going to have their price break points and I think GC2 costs too much for most (especially when buying new is more comfortable than used in general).

Agree with Gresh12, pricepoint is a huge factor. Also, depends on your primary purpose. If the primary use is the most accurate sim experience, including very short putts and chips, by all means the GC2 or Quad should be considered, and be prepared to spend the money for that. I suspect most users aren't as concerned with the most realistic putting and chipping experience indoors. I also suspect most play sim golf with putting set to gimmies inside of 10 feet anyway. Personally that is my use case, iron practice, dialing in distances, and occasional sim play just to mix up practice or mess around with buddies with the gimmies or no putting at all. For me Skytrak or Mevo+ offer a better value than GC2 for my primary purpose. Mevo+ gets the edge for me for the 5 free courses, no annual fees, and better option for outdoor use too.

Lots of reasons GC2 isn’t for me but mevo+ is a better fit:
            1) cost
            2) setup is faster for my outdoor setup
            3) integrates with iOS
            4) I don’t care about chipping and putting

I love GC2 and have used it extensively but it just won’t work for me. If they were to rerelease it with iOS integration and a lower price point I’d strongly consider it (or if i had a permanent indoor setup). I don’t see that happening anytime soon so SkyTrak and Mevo+ are the only options worth considering.

I definitely get your point about cost. But honestly you spend $2000 for a Mevo+ and then find out accuracy isn’t as good as GC2. Then you find the hassle of putting on metal stickers...think about that hassle when 3 friends come over with their clubs. Seriously that is a major concern. My point was to hopefully make many realize the GC2 is by far your best choice for no issues and it can be in same price range. You can find a GC2 used for $3500. I’d jump on that over a device that is radar that will frustrate you in chips and putts and when your friends come over you tell them we have to put metal stickers on all your clubs before we can play. For me having zero hassle and it just works is worth any extra cost. I’m just trying to share my experience and hopefully everyone can make the best choice from their judgement.

Nobody is putting metal stickers on all their clubs to play SIM golf. Its a dot on the ball. I'd love a GC2, however, 2 of my 4 best golf friends are LH and I am RH. What happens when one of your buddies completely shanks and hits and damages your precious GC2. What happens when your buddies are over and you run out of flashes. Every system has its pluses and minuses and I'd hope anyone looking to buy a Mevo+ or a GC2 does their research and understands what those are. If not that is their own problem. Sorry to rant. And no 2K for a Mevo+ that is SIM capable out of the box versus 3500 for a USED GC2 which can display 6 numbers and that's it without spending more money is NOT the same price range.

            1) The stickers go on the ball, not the club.
            2) How many balls do you realistically think you need to put stickers on? It's a simulator, not a driving range. Take a couple minutes to put stickers on a sleeve or 2, and you're done. Nowhere near as time consuming as you appear to think it is.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I am only talking about MEVO+ here and what would be the best. I get it, my HD Golf Sim blows the MEVO+ away with putting and very short chipping. I expected that with Radar. But it gave me the option to either play HD which is amazing with real images and putting etc. or play in 3D with another software like e6 or TGC. So worrying about a GC2 or another LM was not really part of the question. Saying that, even though HD has incredible putting we still put putting at 9ft gimmies. Indoor sims are all about the driver, irons, approaches etc. Tiny chips and putting will never be "real" You could buy the $50,000 contouring floor lol That might make it more real. But HD putting is amazing, you are still just hitting it on a straight like though. To each is own as always. Thanks again for the opinions on TGC vs e6. Still pondering!!

a98cr125 I see you ended up with the E
            6. I’m still on the fence. I haven’t played TGC19 but played OG TGC many times and liked it. I have a gaming PC but don’t have an iPad. It’s too bad that courses that came with my Mevo+ look awful on my projected screen through my iPhone X.

I think the facts are e6 is a high end 3D golf sim software. An iPad will never be able to compete with the latest gaming GPU's. They had to make it run smoothly and sacrificing the 3D image quality was the only option.
