  • iOS device performance mevo+ e6 connect

Since unfortunately the Mevo+ is only compatible with iOS devices out of the box without spending alot of bucks for PC compatibility ($1000 for TGC or $2500 for e6 full version to my understanding), I'll need to buy an iOS device. It's a darn shame since I already have a PC wired up to my projector for my R-motion setup... But I still see this is a cheaper/better solution than skytrak.

So I wanted to inquire who has tested mevo+ and e6 connect on various iOS devices and get feedback. E6 lists the minimum spec requirements and states iPad will work, but many folks say iPad pro is required? I want to know which devices will run e6 connect smoothly while screen mirroring to my projector. Can I get away with a 2019 iPad (a10 chipset) or would 2019 iPad mini or iPad air be better option (both on a12 bionic chipset). I'm not interested in spending a fortune on iPad pro. If people tell me that it runs flawlessly on iPhone 11 I would even consider selling my pixel 3 and going to iphone.
Any guidance you can offer I would greatly appreciate. Please share your experience on performance as far as graphic quality, choppiness, and resolution.

I have a 2018 iPad Pro. I downloaded the E6 app. The graphics are really underwhelming. I don’t think that it’s suitable for a serious sim set up. I also have R-Motion, and TGC looks stunning. Mevo+ seems
really nice, but I’m holding off until they release more info on PC integration. A limited PC version of E6 with 5 courses would be great.

I was told by Flightscope that the only way to get E6 on PC is that I would have to purchase it for $2,500. I dont believe a trimmed down version is going to be available. Im very much dissapointed with that. So then I would have 2 options:

      1) Purchase a high priced iOS device and hook up to my projector, still have underwhelmin graphics
      or
      2) Purchase the ~$1k license for TGC 2019 instead, and buy the cheapest possible iOS device, probably used, just to run the Mevo+ and Mevo skills app

Still really dissapointed with the decision to not have PC support with E6 connect, and also for ignoring android altogether.

I also reached out to Flightscope. The rep said that there’s a possibility that they might release a trimmed down PC version. I’m still waiting for more info on this. I think IOS version of E6 is fine if you want to bring mevo to the range and hit at targets, but it just doesn’t look good enough for a sim set up.

That’s why IMO lack of PC integration out of the box is very disappointing. When you buy R-Motion you you can play 15 courses with TGC and it costs $199. Also Tittle X, which is a golf toy, comes with a trimmed down previous PC version of E6, here’s a video

For $2000 I’d expect getting something that is way better in all aspects, but for now, R-Motion, (which is clearly in a different league), offers better sim software out of the box.

Also it’s worth noting that you can’t use FS Skills app with Mevo+ as of yet. They’re working on it now.

Here’s a video of an iPad running E6 Connect. Playing this video on a projector should give you a rough idea how the game would look like.

    E6 Connect on iPhone 8:

And here’s a video of WGT golf on an iPhone. Looks way better IMO.

Hopefully they follow this forum and release more info in the coming weeks. It looks like they’re getting a lot of question about the PC version. Someone mentioned here that there will be an expansion pack for Mevo’s E6 connect for $300 a year, but it’s still not clear whether by getting it you’d be able to play it on a PC.

Also in this video (around 1:15) they confirm that they’re working on a PC and an Android version.

Scoob, thanks for the thorough response,. Good info here.

While R-Motion with TGC has the graphics, to me, R-motion is just a toy. R-motion logs majority of my shots as bad pulls when I know this is not the case. Also, the multi-person play setup is awful-- I tried it once with my buddies and its a nightmare to switch sensor and we had so many glitches and issues that it can really be used as a sim with multiple people (in my experience).

Fingers crossed on getting more news about PC integration. Once my Mevo+ arrives I may just buy a very cheap iOS device that runs it for now, in hopes of future PC support.

I also think the R-motion analogy isn’t quite right. They were selling a cheap sim experience or cheap rough club data for folks with a launch monitor. They’ve also quickly abandoned the product as there doesn’t appear to be TGC 2019 integration coming at this point.

The Mevo+ was likely a few months from being ready for a “proper” software launch but they had a functioning product so wanted to hit PGA show as I’m sure it’s the best way to get exposure.

The fact anything is bundled in for sim is pretty amazing to me given what you’re getting for tech at the price point.

I’m mostly curious what if anything I can do with my TGC license on my SkyTrak. It appears both Protee and Flightscope are saying it’s in the other companies court.

wow those graphics are pretty awful. darn.

my hope is that it will be only a temporary sacrafice before getting a PC version. Atleast the data, and therefore the ability for it to help my game, should be ALOT better than the R-motion.
Working...
