    Mevo+ chipping question

Based on what I have seen so far in the Mevo+ short chip videos on YouTube, it looks as though a flop-type shot seems to be read more easily, whereas a short bump and run is more of a challenge.

Just curious, but does anyone know if there has been any testing with short bump and runs with the club selected as “driver” or “iron” to have the unit looking for a lower launch window as opposed to “wedge” being selected? Just wondering if that would improve shot pickup on the bump and run since the “radar window” would be lower.

Might introduce other issues, but just wondering.

Most launch monitors vs camera simulators that use stereo camera's etc, will always have a tough time reading a very low shot. It is barely off the ground and is looking for ball flight above it. I have done a lot of bump and runs though on the mevo+ and they have been reading really well unless extremely low which I would not even expect anything to read. I have some chipping in my channel and will do some more soon. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...KoXd-FlhfSLOrI

This is was the specific short chipping video. I did it on FS Golf and e6. https://youtu.be/05UmQ8WGXWM

I just setup TGC last night and played 9 holes (I haven’t tried E6 yet) and every chip I hit read first try including a couple 7 iron bump and runs. This including the bump and run that only carried about 6’ (my net is 8’ and it landed short of it).

I did see in the launcher a setting for wedge distances which I think is when it tells Mevo+ to look for a wedge shot regardless of club selected because this is going to be a chip.

I will note I didn’t have great success hitting very short chips in the FS app when I was testing but I’m also not sure why you would hit 10 yard chips in that setting. I would assume the Skills app will be similar so I probably won’t be doing short game practice inside about 25 yards without going in to a sim software (I don’t really practice shorter than 25 carry indoors anyway).

I have been telling people the same thing. FS Golf and Skills has the unit at a higher setup angle for a reason, it is designed for full shots not chips for quarter swings etc. The 12 degree setting and integration with the sim software's is made for that. Even then, a tiny super low indoor chip will always be a little unrealistic for a LM. But even then I have been blow away what MEVO+ can read. Flops will always be better since you giving it higher ball flight to read vs just off the ground where it can barely see the ball.

Great video...…short chipping looks to be quite realistic. Accurate short chipping brings a high level of realism to sim play. What is the shortest that you can chip? Sometimes TGC has a pin 4 yards from the fringe. Putting from the fringe is difficult to gauge your speed. So it is nice to be able to chip it with a 2 yard carry at a slow speed. Chipping looks pretty impressive.
