    MEVO+ Indoor vs. Short Indoor

    ***To update people on shipping. My Mevo+ got delivered yesterday, I ordered on 2/6.****

    Has anyone tested or know if regular indoor mode is more accurate than short indoor?

    I have a bit of a quirky set up in my backyard where my net hangs off the back of my house. My current set up has 11-12ft of ball flight. I have ample room to move it back to regular indoor distance but in doing so the height of my net comes into question when hitting pitch shots. Currently my pitches hit close to the top of the net and I’d prefer not to launch balls into the front yard. So back to the question, is there any data that shows indoor is more accurate over short indoor?

    I'm not sure if anyone else has the opportunity to test this unless they move outdoors. Has anyone compared even outdoor to Short indoor? That might give you the answer your looking for. I'd assume that more ball flight provides more data points that then provide more accurate shot data. Why don't you ask support? Support@flightscopemevo.com

      FS has said there is no difference in accuracy. The different mode triggers a different "window" through which the unit captures ball flight. The longer flight presumably allows more measurements, which in turn provides more inputs to the various calculated metrics (i.e. carry). But, it is not more "accurate."

        Thanks for the input. Here was the response I got from FS support:

        You are correct in assuming that longer ball flight will usually result in more accurate readings, but when comparing short indoor to standard indoor, another important consideration is the amount of time the ball is seen by the radar. You will still get accurate readings based on ball speed and launch angle, however as your ball speeds increase with the club you are hitting, the radar has less time to see the ball's rotation to calculate the spin, which can have an affect on carry distance.

        For example, if someone has a driver club speed of 100mph, and a ball speed of 147mph, their calculated carry distance may be a little more consistently accurate than a golfer's driver shot with a club speed of 125mph and a ball speed of 187mph. That is only because the launch monitor has the ability to collect just a little bit more spin data from the slower shot. Whether you are in short or standard indoor mode, as long as the ball is seen clearly and accurate spin data can be collected, both modes can be equally accurate. There are just some circumstances that make it difficult for the launch monitor to collect the data it needs to display accurate information about the shot.
