Mevo+ spin axis issues

pwade3 Do you live near any similar businesses where you might be able to go and do some testing against a higher end sim set up while you wait for FS to come back to you? I am worried you are hitting a lot of balls and possible losing confidence in your launch monitor or worse your swing might be changing.

I am hoping these are just growing pains from it be a new unit and the software just needs tweaking (as has many new releases by other companies as well). Just hope this is a simple fix.

Dax Your very observant. I’m sure you noticed the horrible numbers. You might also be thinking of Tonybrown as he sent his unit back, I still have mine.
I feel my indoor swing is getting worse (driver only) as I think that as you see these large right spin axis and the ball flight slicing right, I can feel myself guarding against that and not trusting my swing and the swing starts to become a pull or hook or you just smother the ball too much. Indoors I am not having as many center shots as I normally do. I’m not long, but I don’t miss many shots and never get into trouble.
I have been at the outdoor range the last few days and have used the Mevo+ and it has been rock solid even thought its cold and its range balls which are going nowhere. (We have flags to laser to confirm).
My swing outdoors is as it always is and rarely miss many shots. Indoors, I definitely feel I’m fighting it now. I never used to have that issue indoors. Regardless, even if I am off a bit indoors, its not enough to produce what I am seeing. At the outdoor range I and several others tried to produce a 45R axis and the best we were able to do was 33 deg (or there about).
As for getting to a higher end facility, I don’t live anywhere where I can. I can use our head professional’s FS X3 but I’m not having issues outdoors with either my swing or the Mevo+.

The good thing is you can go to a range to verify your ball flight. The range or out on a real course never lie on ball flight. Taking the unit to the range was the real test. Your unit appears faulty. Its strange that with your club selection set at 9 iron and hitting you were not seeing the same spin axis. I would really like FS to explain the reason why club selection is needed and if that is part of your issue, amongst other things.

I just diligently set of my mevo+. Measured. Used a laser level. Used the E6 alignment to perfect line up my ball with the center line on my net.

Every thing that's hit at the center line is a duck hook--starts left and hooks out of play. A foot right and it's a real hard hook/draw--starts left and hooks left. Way out right and I can get a playable draw. With all other clubs I can aim a foot right of center and draw it like I would on the course.

Something is seriously off here...

I could hit irons and wedges for hours with full confidence that things are reading right. The driver is just flat off.

If you get a chance, set your app to PW or 9 iron and hit your driver and see what happens. Just curious.

in terms of speaking to your wife, I will be of no assistance there as I am having the same issue after buying my TM4 about a month ago.

Ok final verdict on MY issues is that it was user error in setup. I kept messing around with different placements for the mevo+ and found that it needs to be set well to the right (right hand player) and and turned slightly left of target. This setup makes my ball hit right down the middle actually start down the middle and a push draw starts right and draws to the middle--all as expected.

I think my snap hooks before were the result of the mevo+ reading a draw but the ball being way left of in the "reading zone". This setup read very little ball flight and resulted in a hook.

I just played a very enjoyable 18 holes of golf--so relieved I found a setup that works for me.

Do you not align the unit with the alignment camera?

trumb1mj Not sure I completely understand. If you normally line the Mevo+ up using the camera and the line that shows in the camera, with your tee and a line further down your mat or your screen, then if you move the unit to the right and line it up with your tee, wouldn’t the hitting line not be way to the left on your screen or net? I don’t see how you can keep the same line by moving the unit to the right. I will try though and see.

I think the entire root of my problem was alignment between the mevo+, tee and centerline on my net. Sorry if I caused any confusion.

trumb1mj. I think I get what you were doing. I tested the adjustment through the FS app using the camera. You can turn the unit left or right then bring the centerline back to line up with your targets. I tested that in my office and will try that in the sim tomorrow and see what it does to the axis. I have always aligned the unit with the camera line in the middle of the screen and unit square to target. Shouldn’t have to turn it one way or the other but maybe that helps. I will test. Thanks.

I built an outdoor sim setup for my summer cottage today. Bought a 2.5x5m hitting net and built a hitting mat from 20$ terrace mat. I am very impressed that it worked out this well. I setup mevo+ 9 ft behind the tee and 8.5 ft tee to net. Played e6 connect all day long even though it was only 1°C at most. Didn't have any weird spin axis again. My unit seems rock solid on curvature.

Curious if your FS Golf app shows the ball starting from center now with this setup. I'm seeing the ball start left of center on the FS Golf app when camera is perfectly aligned.

It's surprising to me that the boresight camera is off-center on the unit - makes me wonder if it's aimed slightly towards middle, or just aimed 90 deg to case, so left of the center of the unit. Will play around with things... I too am seeing some right spin bias with it.

I'm seeing the ball starting left as well. To combat this, I setup the m+ left of center. When I hit the ball straight down the middle, m+ reads it starting from center. Make sense?

Great to hear. Strange though. Is there a malalignment in the camera/radar configuration? This may help others that are having issues.

I think this is something that needs to be discussed by someone with flight scope. I can see how this works given I have done it before with my TM3e when I wanted club data with my wedges more consistently. Just unclear if the Mevo+ can be set up this way to get more accurate club data such that some of the issues reported by others can be resolved.

Really interesting to see this thread. I did that GC2 v Mevo+ video INDOORS a few weeks back and spin axis was odd on longer clubs. I've seen lots of people on Mevo+ Facebook group saying it's fine and others here saying it's not. Was thinking we were the only ones that had any issues.
At this price point the unit has so much potential but can it solve the radar indoor weakness?

Today at the outdoor range I tried what I meant to do before but kept forgetting. I aligned the Mevo+ up with the camera. I then hit balls going thru the clubs. All was well. Pretty much what ever your shot shape was the numbers seemed to coordinate. I found short irons were slightly longer and longer clubs slight shorter(carry) but just a little. We did it by laser to flags on the range. But its cold out and range balls.
When hitting driver all was well. Changed the settings to indoor mode and instantly had a massive right spin axis while the ball flew straight. I hooked the ball left and still had a right axis but it was about 9. When ball flys straight it will read into the 30’s. A fade will read 45R. Tried short indoor but same thing. Turned it back to outdoor and a normal axis left or right depending on shot shape.

As for what trumb1 found, a few days ago I had tried aiming mine right or left from original alignment but did not find any difference. My horizontal angle would start out 0 then spin off to the right so I don’t think mine is an alignment issue ( I wish it was). I will pass onto Flightscope but I’m not have much support. They just seem to ask me questions that I have already answered days ago.

I can’t emphasize how will it works outdoors. It’s amazing. Never misses a shot and data reports were great. Can you have 2 radar systems working side by side? Would like to compare it to X3.
