No doubt it’s accurate outdoors. Quick question pwade3, do you need club selection when outdoors in outdoor mode? What happens it you hit wedge with driver selected and vice versa outdoors?
-
In outdoor mode, it does ask you to select the club you are hitting. I have on a few occasions forgot to do that and I did not notice anything unusual but it was 6 iron selection with hitting driver. There is no “no club select” in the menu. Default is Driver. I will select wedge next time and hit driver and see what happens if I’m able. They are starting to close golf courses in some areas and I’m not comfortable being at the range anymore. (Mind you I had most of it to myself) Stay safe.

I’ve hit a bunch more shots over the last week. Mandated work from home will do that.
I spent a lot of time this winter working on neutralizing path/face but that said I feel like I may be getting not enough curve in FS Golf app.
I come from SkyTrak where everything felt like it curved way too much so maybe it’s just the FS visual on my small iPhone screen but it my shots don’t seem to shape much. I get pushes and pulls but they don’t bend much off their start line. The magnitude of miss left or right “seems about right” but optically I expect more curve (unless my off season work has really neutralized me a lot).
No definitive position unfortunately as I can’t tell if it’s me, the way the app draws the line or the unit. I’ll try to spend more time looking at the numbers but I like having the visual up and on the iPhone it’s hard to get everything go I want on the screen at once.

I find this thread really interesting. Flightscope is pretty clear that the Mevo + does not measure club face or path. And that it measures SA. The club data that it measures is club speed and AOA. With good SA measurement and HA, club face and path can be calculated. Gear effect plays a big part in this as well. Gear effect only matters to systems that use club face and path to calculate SA. Understanding gear effect became clear when I started watching videos of my clubhead at impact. My woods usually has very little shape on them while the rest of my clubs have a nice draw to them. After seeing the videos of my impact.... I see that I hit slightly on the heel for most shots with my woods. This gives fade spin which negates my normal draw swing....and the ball flies straight. Correcting my impact location has proved difficult.
Sounds to me like the issues in the original post are either environmental or the result of a faulty unit. Jay has a lot of videos on YouTube with the Mevo +.....it seems pretty accurate for him.
I hope Pwade3 gets help to correct his issues.

JackedUpSwing This video seems pretty accurate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8pEgsqPUkk
My point was..… if total spin is close....and consider how they get total spin. Why would SA be so bad. It seems that pwade3 might have a faulty unit IMO.

This is HD golf. And notice how he never has a spin axis of more than 3 degrees. Dude only hits straight balls?
Some of the drives had opposite spin axis. How can it be opposite if it is directly measured.
Uneekor and GC2 never had opposite spin axis cause they actually measure the spin axisLast edited by JackedUpSwing; 03-23-2020, 09:55 PM.

Jay has other videos showing shot shaping. The video in the link shows the guy hitting one ball being measured by two sims. Don't hate the guy because he hits straight. My normal shot has about 10-12 degrees SA.... I struggle to get it to low single digits. Not likely that Flightscope will tell exactly how they get their SA.. My point was …..if you watch the whole video, you will agree that Mevo + measures spin very well. If you think about how they are doing this.....with the dot. How hard would it be to measure the tilt of that spin? Might be hard or impossible......not likely that we will find out soon.

keither5150 Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Always a good read. I don’t believe its my environment anymore. I received this from Flightscope pre purchase:
“In Indoor Mode the Mevo+ will track the ball for up to 40yds, so your 25' distance would be perfect. The Mevo+ would then track it with your setup until it hits the screen. The longer your ball flight you have the better”
So I took my Mevo+ to the outdoor range. I set it to outdoor mode. I few shots with the driver with a spin axis of 5.1R, 3.1R, 4.9L. Ball flight was basically straight. I then switch the mode from outdoor to indoor. My spin axis with driver again was 20.7R, 32.6R, 27.7R all the while watching the ball fly straight down the range. I have done this a few times now with the same result or worse results. Most times in indoor mode spin axis is in the high 30’s and mid 40’s. Always right.
I have sent FS all my data but I received this recently: “And please understand when hitting outdoor (unrestricted ball flight) but choosing indoor will give odd readings”.
Why? If it tracks it up to 40yds why would I get odd readings?
Anyway, not important. Just confusing. Please Stay safe everyone. Cheers.Last edited by pwade3; 03-23-2020, 06:25 PM.

I had similar symptoms... sent mine back for replacement last week.. hoping to get a replacement soon..
-
tonybrown32 Did they indicate to you how long it might be before the sent a replacement to you?
-
Nope.. I only got very short responses back when asking, but they said, given the numbers I was reporting, it had to be an issue with the unit, and I needed to send it back so they can analyze it and either send a replacement or "update the software" if needed..
I asked if they have replacements on hand, or if I need to wait 8 weeks for new shipments... they said they have a few on hand to use for replacements so hoping for a quick TAT.

pwade3 Has your problem about the M+ spin Axis been solved? Yesterday, I played a round with M+ in my friends home, and I brought my ST to his home, two monitors work together. I found M+ has more side spin rate than ST's. I am a righty, my ball goes more right than real life and ST's. One of our friends is a lefty, his ball goes more left than real life and ST's. The problem just happen on driver and woods clubs, irons and wedges are prefect. Any suggestion?Toronto Courses I published in TGC 2019 & PGA 2K21:
