    Mevo+ First Thoughts

After using Mevo+ and its associated software for a few days here are some observations and thoughts..

After experimenting with the software still not sure how much of the FS software is linked together if I update my bag in MyFlightscope does the data simply transfer to FSGolf and FSSkills.

E6 connect appears to be uploading the rounds to the E6 portal

E6 connect does not always connect to the Mevo+, it shows no WiFi. Once it does connect it is pretty stable.

The FS software appears to be uploading the data to Myflightscope

Putting appears very weak in E6 Connect Very few putts have registered when playing Aviara or The Belfry.

Difficult to work out how hard to hit the ball when putting so I have set a 'Gimme' at 20ft to offset this. For all my issues at Golf I am quite a good putter.

In the Webinar from Flightscope on Wednesday they stated that:

There should be an upgrade promotion for E6 connect for IOS and PC.

They also stated that the diagram with the putting distance is wrong and should be 7ft, not 9ft. although I have tried both with little success.

They also emphasised that the FS charger must be used, as an alternative will burn the power board out and void the warranty.

They also stated that the 'Range ball' settings would give peculiar results due to variables in range balls. Use, condition etc.

I have emailed the deliverer to clarify some points, but I have not received a response yet.

I am a senior golfer and struggle with long par 4's and most par 5's so I have limited all experiments to par3's and short par 4's. This issue is also not helped by using 'Almost Golf Balls' limited flight into my net. I am thinking of upgrading my package to PC if I can get a $300 upgrade, mentioned in webinar that id could be available, but would like to play short courses. Are there many in the upgrade. I don't want to pay the full price for TGC. Are there any more offerings at a reasnable cost with short courses or Par 3 courses in.

    Hi 7iron,

quick question: what diagram with the wrong putting distance are you talking about?

    Thanks

      It is the one below.

FS said they were going to send an email out to correct the info.

Thanks for the feedback. I have a 15ft space, 16ft at a push. I know this is bang on the optimal number but would you be able to test shorter distances ball to mevo and ball to screen for me please. I’m keen to hear about tolerances.

        thanks

Can I ask why you are limited to using just almost golf balls?

In in terms of e6, I had thought you could select the tees that you can play from and wonder if this might help? Those that play TGC could likely comment on the availability of short courses.

The main reason is safety, windows etc, please see the photo in the next post. I currently play off the RED in E6C as I am a senior golfer, with a v, limited drive nowadays. I am v. happy with 200 yards on a golf course. The Almost Golf balls reduce distance again for Driver and woods. so limit drive distance.

          Hi
I always play outdoors, in the Garden.

I usually set the net at 8ft to 10 foot away and the Mevo+ 8ft behind the ball.
I use a tape measure to set up and I normally work on the principle that if I am within a few inches of 8ft either side I will be fine.

I use Short indoor mode. The photograph is pre Mevo with my SC200.

I haven't tried indoor mode yet as I am concerned that if I miss the net from 13ft, I may break a window etc.

Not playing today, but if I play over the weekend, depends on the weather, I will try at 7ft and 7ft. I tend to use a lob wedge from about 7ft due to a high launch angle.

I have no experience with it yet, but from what I understand you need a level putting surface all the way to the net or screen for the Mevo+ to pick it up. Just a thought as to why you might be having putting issues.

I wrote a post that has fallen down a bit now about what I perceive as the limitations of the software options for Mevo+. To me none are great as a driving range (my benchmark is SkyTrak which despite other faults had a great app in my opinion). I think the hardware is great with Mevo+ plus I've got quantity instead of quality on the software front right now.

FS Skills is uploading data to myflightscope.com for me perfectly but FS Golf is not (I'm pretty sure the latter is still getting setup). I understand the intent would be everything "syncs" on the website but things are unlikely to get pushed back to the apps. I did spend some time setting up my bag on the website hoping it would get pushed to FS Golf (not sure it really has a purpose for FS Skills) and it doesn't seem to sync anywhere.

I watched the webinar the other day. The point I think he was trying to make regarding range balls is that every range ball is different. Some are limited flight, some are floaters, some are new with "decent" dimples and others are almost smooth because of age. At the same range with the same swing/strike you can hit two balls and they could go 40 yards difference in distance and anywhere on direction (some of the knucklers you get with old range balls are amazing to watch). Where he was going is they have a range ball choice but it will not do a great job of actually normalizing going from every range ball to a premium ball.

While I haven't done it (still assessing options), my understanding is you can get the $300 upgrade on PC for E6. There are a couple folks on here that are distributors that I'm sure will jump in shortly and can help you out on that front.

Thanks for the reply we have v. similar feelings here. I am going to sort the Demo out for E6 connect then make a decision.

Hopefully my laptop will suffice Intel i7, 8Gb ram, my only concern is the graphics card NVideo Gforce MX130.
        Working...
