  • Mevo+ Putting Speed

So I hate sim putting no matter what device so the fact Mevo+ putting wasn’t great didn’t bother me as I’ll always opt for auto putt.

However, my daughter is showing mild interest in the sim now and I really want her to take up the game (I can sell more golf rounds for myself if one of the kids is coming) so I downloaded the Golfisimo demo mainly to check out the mini golf.

I set up my Mevo+ in the basement on rec room carpet (my mat to net isn’t flat) and loaded up the demo. I had Mevo+ 7’ to ball on the sim tilt and I had 10’ before ball hit the cardboard box I put up to not hit the wall. The carpet was not a fast green but rolls close enough to my putting carpet in speed. The first mini golf hole was like 40 yards (yes yards) so I gave it a good whack and the ball hit the box hard but on the game rolled like 20 feet. I hit a bunch of putts and I couldn’t get anything to go.

I moved to E6 assuming it was software. I went to the 20’ flat putt and had to rip it to get it to the hole. I hit about 40
putts and all were super short. I estimate they were travelling 50 to 60% of what they should have. Putts that hit my 10’ barrier with speed to carry them another foot consistently went 6-7’ in game. The game was set at 8 stimp and I ran out of time to play with that but I’m not used to real golf on tour speeds so I bet 10 is my weekend round at this time of the year.

I know folks have said the putting sucks but my sense was it related to no reads and not being able to hit putts less than 10’. I had zero issues hitting putts short I couldn’t get one to go long.

The silver lining is I probably saved $400 as Golfisimo mini golf was unplayable and I was stretching to justify that cost as it was. The pitch and putt courses would have been useful for my daughter but I can find/make short courses on TGC if I have to and other than the mini golf the other games weren’t super immersive without an impact screen.

I believe that there is a patch for putting coming. Jay has put out numerous videos regarding the Mevo +. You can find his YouTube channel under "Golf Simulator videos". My thoughts on the Mevo + and putting are... …. That a radar unit that reads the ball all the way to the screen needs to change the method of speed detection. A putt is constantly decelerating after impact. The shorter the putt, the greater the degree of deceleration. They should measure the ball speed within the first couple of feet after impact. Many simulator systems have a putting mode. I am sure that the guys at Flightscope are working on it. Putting can be really enjoyable if speed and direction is accurate. It seems that overhead camera systems have the advantage on this.

Great news. They are almost ready to release .09 there are pairing with a larger update for other items.

Thanks a98cr125. When you were on old firmware did you have speed issues like I noted or just no reads on short ones?

I’m curious on the odds my issue is fixed by firmware.

Yes Gresh12 several issues before .09

After seeing the new FS illustration where putting is suggested further from your feet I gave it a go in my garage last night. I'm on a Fiberbuilt flight deck so tried a few things:
    1. I hit some putts off the mat that go about a foot then fall on to the ground and roll 8' to my net
    2. I hit some putts further away from my feet off the mat entirely and on my crappy green astro turf that covers the concrete between mat and net

To my surprise putts read pretty consistently using both methods (be read pretty well I mean very few no reads). My Mevo+ is sitting on a block of wood with adjustable legs about a quarter inch lower than my mat (I had dropped it a touch after hearing some comments that a raised Mevo+ with a gap lower then back to a raised mat wasn't great although I hadn't seen issues).

I was surprised it picked up the ball so far to the right of the center of the Mevo+ when putting beside the mat. I was shocked it read putts with only about 1' of roll on a Fiberbuilt mat (so bouncing to the equation).

I'm not sure being able to putt off the side of my mat will change my choice on autoputt as the ball was way below my feet and I had to stand miles from the ball to be on my mat (no way to address the ball with my Fiberbuilt Practice Station remotely normal where the ball needs to sit) but the speed on the putts actually seems some what reasonable for how hard I was hitting them.

Unfortunately my demo of Golfisimo expired so I couldn't try it in the mini-golf which was really what I wanted to test out. I'll wait for .09 firmware then see if I can ask to try the demo again given why I'm actually wanting to demo it.

Hi, when you'll be ready, just write me message and I think our programmers can make reset of 30 days timer for your Golfisimo demo.

How long is the demo for golfisimo? I thought it was a demo of limited items for ever there is a time frame for the demo? Does anyone know if that’s the case for the e6 connect pc demo?

pwade3 I haven't had any issues with TGC19 on my Mevo+ since I solved my general issues I had at first with all apps (weird launch angles which turned out to be my fault). It seems to suggest I keep the unit at the 17* unlike E6 that wants it at 12*. I haven't tried any putting in TGC19 with Mevo+ yet. I get the occasional no read on a short chip but I'm guessing .09 will help with that.

I can't decide if I prefer TGC19 or E6. I really want scramble mode at some point and I personally like the randomized putting in E6 (not the number of times it thinks I will 3 putt but the ability to get some variability without putting myself but I actually like the Foresight "strokes gained" style I saw on a video once). I feel they both have issues hitting shots in to the greens in that TGC first bounce is huge whereas E6 spins back way too much. I've played with green firmness on speed for both and neither get dialed in quite right to my usual one hop and stop on the course until I hit my long irons which roll out a bit.

If TGC had scramble mode and fixed the first bounce issue I think I would stop considering E6 subscription (graphics are definitely better on my PC) but that's weighing in that I've already paid for TGC. If I owned neither I'd have a tough time making a decision. If I was more patient with the course designer I'd probably lean hard at TGC because I could make the local courses I play for real practice (I like playing the famous courses but I actually prefer playing courses I know in real life) but LIDAR has been a challenge to find for some of the courses and even when I lost interest in planting trees as it's super time intensive or horribly inaccurate (somewhat both which matters when you know the course well).

I have a few friends considering getting launch monitors so my predominant software choice may end up with whatever they get as well so we can play together remotely.

Gresh12. Thanks for the input on that. Appreciate it.
I’m on the fence. I have purchased E6 basic for PC and will give it a go but since I own TGC2019 will likely transfer it.
As for weird VLA, I had some odd ones testing with FS app today. I could get irons thru 3 wood VLA perfect then Driver would go to 20 degree. When I found a setup for the driver to work, I would get low iron VLA. 8 iron went to 13 degrees. I did not get that in E6. I changed tilt and all sorts of setups. Can’t get it all to work.

pwade3 I don't have many shots on my Mevo+ with driver or 3 wood yet so I can't give much feedback there. I'll take it outside once my outdoor net arrives and start hitting long clubs (UPS has been a disaster for me since COVID though so the net is probably not arriving any time soon). If you're running .09 already that's disappointing as I was under the impression that version was supposed to help with the super high launch angles on driver for some folks (I haven't seen them at all in my limited number of driver shots nor with my super short indoor driver). I always wondered if there was some issue with the ball being on a tee and the software not quite getting the launch right as it starts high but I have no logic for this except a number of people having the same issue with just driver.

I have done some limited testing with putting with the beta .09 and it seems to work very well. I tested to see how short of a putt I could get and the shortest putt was 5’ 7” and that was almost exactly the distance my ball travelled on my mat. Have very few no reads. I am 11 feet to my screen and if you putt from about 1 foot behind your tee area (closer to Mevo+) it never missed a putt. Same thing with short chips. I could chip very short chips and it picked them all up. Worked very well.

I logged in today and my timing was off. It worked but said I only have 5 days left. I’ll try again after 5 more days and see if it truly expires.

I also tried the mini golf demo putting in my normal setup but on my Astro turf beside my mat instead of off my carpet in the basement which is that high traffic stuff. The speed worked just fine so guessing my basement carpet was just decelerating ball so hard it was going way short.

They picked a pretty boring mini golf demo hole so I’m not convinced the price is worth it for me the more I think about it. If I knew it would get my kid hooked on golf I’d do it in a second but this smells like something I buy and she uses it three times then it never gets used again.

You can also try Creative Golf 3D demo, where is hole from another minigolf course for test. This course is avaliable also in Golfisimo.
Full list of courses in Golfisimo you can find here: https://www.creativegolf3d.com/golfi...isimo?aid=1351
There are 9 minigolf / adventure golf courses.
Golfisimo will be updated soon with 4 new game types. Update will be free for users which bought it before update.

CreativeGolf3D i’ll keep my eye out for the new game modes. I’m interested for the kid angle but hitting in to a net with a tv off to the side doesn’t quite have the same effect for things like smashing glass etc.

I’m sort of stuck liking some features from each software right now and none quite have the perfect mix of what I want. I do think those that continue to enhance/develop will ultimately be the most successful as the competition increases.

Gresh12, yes, sure. TV on the side isn't same, especially for kids.

I hope one of our new versions will persuade you to our software .
