MEVO+ vs SKYTRAK - DRIVER COMPARISON To UNEEKOR QED
Skytrak - Mevo Plus - UNEEKOR QED - Driver REVIEW. In this final video review of the Skytrak vs Mevo+ vs Uneekor QED series on E6 Connect, I take the Skytrak... -
Test without the Skytrak in the way.
Gotta be some interference going on because your numbers with HD Golf and many other Mevo+ sessions never showed spin rates like that. Mevo+ was at a bit of a disadvantage in this test or for that matter any test were you are using the Skytrak and the Mevo+ at the same time. Would be better to take 10 shots with each and compare the data that way. Maybe to make it a bit easier you could do 5 shots for each unit and throw out any terrible ones.

I use my Mevo+ and Skytrak together sometimes. I don’t notice any difference if I remove the ST. Only time I get an odd reading is if the ball is started too far right but wondering if the ST unit is blocking those readings. I have sent the data back to Flightscope and asked if they can see any interference and they have not come back saying they have. They haven’t said there isn’t either.........😳. I did a spreadsheet with the units working together and the numbers were fairly close. ST still has a big L number most of the time.

It did seem like Mevo+ performed worse than usual particularly on backspin which has been close in most other tests and bang on TM4 in my testing.
Mevo+ spin axis is definitely its weak spot. SkyTrak didn’t seem nearly as exaggerated as usual in this test compared to what I’ve experienced but most of my experience was irons.
I think gear effect is not helping M+. I’ve heard conflicting messages on measured spin axis vs calculated based on club data and part of me thinks it’s both like TM4 when there isn’t enough revolutions it defaults to club data. The heel strike was the worst read of M+ from my recollection. Didn’t look like Jay really got one far out in the toe which I was curious to see.
Will be interesting to see how much they can fine tune the spin axis. For me the M+ still beats SkyTrak for my usage even if axis not great as actual club speed, AoA and better HLA win over arguably better spin axis (I’m not convinced SkyTrak is amazing here but it’s looking better than M+). I generally don’t curve the ball a lot so the additions outweigh the one subtraction. But for others it may be the opposite depending on the strengths of your game and what you’re working on (for me AoA is a big issue so having that data helps me improve a lot).

kahi I have hit both inside and out, but I have not put together a comparison of the two other then just going over the data. I will go back and have a look at that. I don’t remember seeing anything odd outdoors. Data seemed reliable and excellent.

Gresh12 I agree with your comments here... spin axis in the Mevo+ can be problematic depending on your game, and your needs. Its improved quite a bit already in the .09 firmware, I expect we could see additional tweaks along the way. Although I still notice some right spin axis bias, I prefer a minimal right spin axis bias over the exaggerated draw bias I noticed on Skytrak... I'm also enjoying the much more accurate HLA on Mevo, as well as what I feel like is a software suite that has much more value without any annual fees.

Thank you Jay, excellent info yet again!
I've been trying to find quantitative info on how Mevo+ performs in absolute terms but now feel that the comparison data that your videos provide is already pretty reassuring. It's great that you have included the Uneekor to the mix. The way your latest videos present the data of the three devices is very good, comparing just Mevo+ and SkyTrak would leave questions about the absolute performance of both devices since they are the lowest priced comprehensive devices in the current launch monitor market.
My take from the last three videos:
- Mevo+ produces numbers on ball speed, launch angle and horizontal launch direction that are consistently similar to Uneekor
- Mevo+ produces numbers on vertical spin that are mostly similar to but sometimes differ from Uneekor. And when that happens, Uneekor's numbers are very similar to SkyTrak.
- Mevo+ produces numbers on side spin that are consistently lower than what Uneekor produces. Uneekor's numbers are very similar to SkyTrak.
- As an end result (and also resulting from different calculated ball flight models, I guess) the carry distance and therefore also the total distance numbers from Mevo+ and also the deviation in yards differs from Uneekor and SkyTrak
I'm looking for a launch monitor that would give me reliable accuracy both when using a net indoors or outdoors and when hitting balls in open air. Mevo+ looks very promising.Last edited by kahi; 05-25-2020, 05:15 AM.

Gresh12 I really don't think that gear effect has anything to do with the SA on the Mevo +. If you look at the drive at 5:15..... you will see a heel strike. With a heel strike, fade spin will be added ..... not draw spin. Mevo + drive clearly had more draw spin, not fade spin. If you look at the club path..... clearly in to out path. This club path will give you draw spin, which is somewhat negated by the heel hit.... From observing the club path and seeing the face angle and strike position......I would expect that the shot would fly pretty straight. So on this shot, it looks like Uneekor and ST are very accurate. You might have a point about an adjustment made based on club data..... If the Mevo + used the club path on slow spinning fast shots..to help with it's SA measurement. This might explain why Mevo's shot had way more draw spin than the others. When in fact, the heel hit negated any draw spin that would normally come from the inside out path.
I had this exact problem with my fairway woods. Ball flight IRL would be straight...... So I am thinking that I am a great golfer.... until I realized
that my inside out path is negated by a heel hit.. Sure, the ball goes straight but you lose about 10 yards carry and even more roll. Having the video playback is helpful on the Uneekor.
My take on this video is that Mevo + struggles a little with SA on fast slow spinning shots. Perhaps FS is using club data to aid in the measurement.....it is hard to tell. If you compare this video to the previous one with irons and wedges.... The mevo + seems to perform pretty well overall.
It is very likely that the Mevo + can read club path and impact position. These two data parameters could greatly aid in SA..... if the system does not have enough ball flight to measure it accurately. Only FS knows for sure if they use club data in the SA measurement.

I can't go back right now and review the shot I was thinking of but I'm guessing it is the same one your commenting on.
I think you are confirming my point on gear effect though. The swing was a draw swing but the heel strike negated the draw and ball should have gone relatively straight (which happened on Uneekor and SkyTrak) but it still produced a draw on Mevo+. Hence my comment on gear effect if it's not getting a good read on ball data. The swing said hook but strike changed it which Mevo+ appeared to miss.
This would also be consistent with my toe strike issues with high speed low spin shots where on my Mevo+ they start right then slice off the planet whereas in reality they would likely start right and hang on due to gear effect draw bias. I'm on .08 firmware so I think it's even worse then.
The spin axis isn't great (not unuseable but not great on Mevo+) but I think a bunch of other things still make it the winner for me and maybe they'll get spin axis improved. Radar indoors will never be perfect and no launch monitor is perfect anyway.
Uneekor definitely growing on me but I have a non-permanent setup that I can't address in any way without moving which isn't going to happen.

In their latest webinar video Mr. Trujillo says that they do not need to know what the club face is doing since they measure the ball’s spin axis directly (watch from 04:45 onwards):

It was an interesting video. Without any scientific backing, it feels like all indoor use LM’s have a weakness to some degree as Gresh12 says. One of the shots showed Uneekor to be odd with a long carry number but maybe some some wind was involved? Mevo+ had that heel shot that was way off as mentioned above by Keither.
My Skytrak overstates the draw. I can hit 10 shots with driver in their range app and it will show 8 of them with a draw. I can’t do that IRL. No way. I can sit on a range and be lucky to get one to do that. Usually on a toe strike. I play a straight or slight fade with driver and slight draw with irons. Mevo+ shows that data and flight much better then ST. Again, just an observation with my units.
I find the Mevo+ has issues with gear effect shots still. Center strike shots perform very well. All clubs. Irons perform well regardless of strike. I don’t see a lot of deviation from heel to toe. The issue seems with longer clubs. 3 wood and driver. Skytrak is measuring the ball via its photo system. Does not see or care about the club. You hit it on the toe it will produce either straight or draw. It’s accuracy of that flight can be debated. Mevo+ will always show a right spin axis on a toe shot that is starting right. Usually large. Even with the .09 firmware. Does not seem right. If FS is measuring SA like they say then it does not seem correct. Maybe what keither5150 says in that they also use club data when it does not get a good read on the ball for SA. That almost makes sense. And that club data will not be able to tell gear effect.
I have no such issues with center strike. I don’t hit many heel shots (miss on the toe too much) but I will be trying that along side my ST this week out of curiosity. That was an interesting shot in the video.

So one thing I think I would agree with Jay on is real vs Simulated. He was hitting good shots at or around the distances he observed in real life on the Uneekor. The Skytrak was almost always lower (by a good margin) than the Uneekor and the Mevo+. In one example it was 30+ yards short on carry. Now... I don't know if the Skytrak he is using is running the latest updated software, but still, this is very close to what I observe as well as ST user vs my drives on the course in real life.
So this somewhat begs the question... If you are a TGC2019 player and you use ST, should you be allowed to use a 5% boost on your drives? If you are competing against a Uneekor user, you basically have no chance in two areas. Driving and Putting. They will kill you each time. I can't think of a good solution with the putting, but for driving, it sure would be nice to get my normal 265-275 carry numbers I get in real life vs the 245 carry I seem to get while playing sim golf. (And no... This is not ISS affecting me. Its the same swing)
I was a little surprised by the Mevo+. I do wonder if the ST was causing the mis-reads.

Hi Everyone, as always I am trying to produce as much content as I can and just keep it all uncut and straight forward for you guys to analyze and get your own opinion. There will of course be more on the way but with the EYE XO showing up in the next week coverage will of course shift to that unit as it will be fresh unseen and highly demanded but viewers. I appreciate you all watching and hope you are enjoying the content.

This has been my experience with the Mevo+ and driver... seems pretty much spot on but with a little right spin axis bias.. but more importantly, high spin with driver indoors. Took my Mevo+ outdoors yesterday and got consistent 2500-3000 backspin with driver outside.. indoors I get the occasional 2500-3000 rpm, most are 3000-3800.. really affects carry distances with driver.
