  • Losing Connection with Mevo+

    I seem to have an issue with losing connection with my mevo+. It happens both with the Flightscope app and with E-6. Sometimes it happens after a few shots sometimes after a few dozen. In E-6 the status led light will go white and my iPad shows the red dot that says disconnected and the yellow triangle flashes and says flightscope device not found. I have noticed exactly what the led light in the flightscope app does. I think it goes green and does not go back to red and it does not say ready and the in the flightscope app the top right corner of the app says no device. My iPad still shows that the WiFi signal is there and I am connected to it. To get E-6 or the flightscope app to work again I need to shut the mevo+ off and restart it and also the app. This just started about 2 or so days ago. I am not sure if it started right after the .09 update or a day later. Anyone else having a similar issue?

    I was having the same issue too.. I upgraded the firmware to 0.12 and made it through a long round of FS Golf without any drops. Interestingly enough I never noticed the issue on TGC with my desktop... just ny iOS devices.

      Not sure if this applies to any/many of you but....

      I was originally using AirPlay to send my iPad output to an Apple TV (which then would output to my projector). This turned out to be a major source of the connection issues. I ended up moving to a wired connection from my iPad to the projector, and the results are much better. I let Flightscope know about this a couple months ago, so they could investigate.

      Perhaps having multiple devices connected to the Mevo+ (Apple TV for AirPlay, etc), overwhelms the WifI router on the Mevo, causes some of the networking issues...but just speculation on the root cause..

      Long story short - If you are using Apple AirPlay, try moving to a wired connection and see if it helps...

        Any news on this one? Is anyone still having the same issues? I've had my MEVO+ since launch in Feb and this has been an issue since day 1. I have been back and forth with FlightScope support since it got so bad that the unit wouldn't even fix itself with a reboot. They have re-written the firmware and whilst it seems to have improved, I'm just back to having to reboot it every time the unit disconnects. Has anyone had any joy getting this one resolved? I am using an iPad pro 1st generation.

          Hmmmm... I'm still struggling with this from time to time as well. I always wonder if it's my other iOS device connecting to the Mevo at the same time when it's not supposed to be connected. Not sure but just a hypothesis at the moment.

            I’m getting really pissed about this issue. I took 3 shot on the FS golf app tonight and it lost connection. Switched to E6, maybe a few more shots, but it also disconnected. This has been happening since day one. My wife and friends think I’m nuts for paying 2k for this; waiting 4 months and getting these results. I’m trying to be hopeful, but I am coming to the same conclusion. I had to send my unit back after having one day, it worked for a couple of hours, then died. They fixed it and sent it back. I want a new unit now!

              I had an early unit and a lot of flaky issues as described above, eventually it had a power issue and I had to have it replaced. Everything seems fine now with the new unit.

                I love the MEVO+ when it works. I think the data is very accurate when comparing to GC quad etc. Anyway I too have the same issue with lost connection - BUT ONLY on e6 Connect. That's it. It has never lost connection to FS golf unless I was using my Android App. So I use the a 7th generation iPad and never have I lost connection. But a simple reboot does reconnect it. I know its a little frustrating. I even forget the home wifi so it doesn't interfere. Is there an update to fix this? the alarming thing to me is that my iPAd is 3 feet away from the flightscope and when I click to align the unit, it says its a weak connection. How is that possible? If my iPAD was any closer to the Mevo+, they would be touching. So to me the Wifi hardware or software is inferior. HAs anyone called support? I have on other issues and they seem to be very knowlesgable and polite.

                  i'm planning on getting a Mevo + setup. does anyone have thoughts regarding connectivity issues with a windows PC vs i pad pro? or any other issues as to which computer system works better. also thinking of getting the e6 plan. thoughts on that? thanks.

                    PC is much better if you're projecting (significantly better graphics quality), and the iPad would need a cellular plan if you want to be connected to the internet at the same time as the Mevo+.

                      Still waiting on my Mevo Plus to arrive and have been trying to understand the best option to buy a Ipad Pro vs. a gaming laptop. In what instance would you need wifi to be connected to the Mevo and something else? Do the apps require wifi to load various ranges/courses? Wouldn't a gaming PC run into the same issue as an Ipad not being able to connect to two different Wifi sources?

                    As per the FS webinar today a fix is in the works from E-6 that should be out in the first week or 2 of December. Also in the webinar the estimated spin issue was addressed and they are working on it. It is actually nice to hear them admit these issues are real and we are not crazy

                      I've been having this problem as well.

                      At least once per session, at a random moment, the Mevo+ will stop arming for the next shot. It is still connected to my computer's WiFi --but is otherwise unresponsive. The only way to fix it is to reboot the unit. As you can imagine, this is very frustrating!

                      I've been doing some troubleshooting and here are my observations:
                      • I don't think the problem originates in the software. I mostly use TGC 2019 --but the problem also occurs when I play Awesome Golf and Creative Golf 3D.
                      • The issue is NOT a result of more than one device attempting to connect to the Mevo+ at the same time. Even after disabling all other devices in my household, the unit still hangs up.
                      • Interestingly, the problem seems to occur more often when then unit is charging (as opposed to running off of its internal battery.) That's not to say it won't occur when running off the internal battery. It just doesn't seem to occur as often.
                      I have been hoping the latest firmware updates would fix things --but no luck!

                      Has anyone ever managed to resolve this problem? Do I need to ask Flightscope for a new unit?

                        have been doing some troubleshooting today that some of you might be interested in and also sent a message to FS in the app

                        would love to hear if any of you can add some info

                        -when I use the FS golf app, I use an ipad air 6th gen (it seems to be getting worse with disconnects and the camera alignment hasn't worked in a couple weeks - says "low wifi signal")
                        -it does connect and can hit shots, but it'll disconnect frequently (every 5 mins or so on average, I would say)

                        -talked to FS this morning and they were going to remote in to my PC and "activate" the 2.4 ghz wifi band on the Mevo+, but my workplace would not accept the remoting in... but that doesn't seem to be the issue to me (read on)

                        I have tried the following four ipads today, and two work fine:

                        -ipad air 6th gen on OS 14.3 - bad... updated this ipad to 14.4 and the problem persists
                        -a different ipad air 6th gen on OS 14.3 - bad
                        -ipad air 1st gen on OS 12.5.1 - good
                        -ipad air 8th gen on OS 14.0 - good

                        wtf?

                        worked fine on a couple iphones
                        worked fine on my android
                        worked fine running TGC for over an hour a couple nights ago from 50 ft away through a few walls

                        At this point my disconnections seems to be only occurring when I make slow short putts while practicing indoors with E-6 in the chipping and putting area. I have not played E-6 in my back yard setup in over a month but have used my mevo+ at the range with the FS golf app with no issues. I play and practice in E-6 with my iPad Pro but use my iPhone 8 at the range.

                          I'm giving the E6 Connect Demo a try, but have not yet been able to attach my Flightscope X2 to it yet (using iPad Pro). No issues with using the X2 connected to the native FS iPad apps at all...so, it would appear an E6 issue. Have sent a support question into Flightscope as I didn't seem to be able to open a ticket on the E6 portal.

                            Found this thread while having this issue tonight. Got my unit three weeks ago and I just started having this issue during play tonight. What made it go away was turning off my WiFi connection on my iPhone. I wasn’t using my projector, just iPad connected to mevo plus playing e6. Prior to disabling my iPhone WiFi (which wasn’t being used at all for golf sim), I was getting 5-6 shots and then the “Flightscope not connected” message came up, requiring a restart of the mevo plus and e6. I play in my detached garage which is pretty far from my home WiFi so I’m wondering if the mevo plus WiFi was the “preferred” connection for my phone tonight and was causing the interference. That’s my hypothesis right now at least!

                              I have been having disconnection issues for months. I’m ready to toss this thing. I actually tried Mevo+ on my Microsoft surface on e6. Disconnected!!!!!! I don’t think e6 and Mevo+ like to talk ..there software seems incompatible. I am calling the place where I bought it tomorrow. This has gone on long enough!!!!
