Mevo+ to the tee

Is it necessary to have a strip in between the Mevo+ and the tee at the same height? Or can you simply have the Mevo+ at the same height with a piece of wood and then have a space until your hitting mat is at the same height?

I have played around with having my M+ on ground 2" below my mat and sitting on a platform up to exactly mat level with nothing "filling the gap". My unit reads almost every shot on a reasonable basis with any setup in that range (using the software tee height feature as appropriate). I get 2-5 no reads a session (in 75-100 balls).

The no reads are always 0.0 on ball speed and dashes everywhere else if I recall (one field shows as zero and the rest dashes for sure). My launch angles, ball speed, club speed etc. all appear reasonable and accurate regardless on setup height.

I have landed on using my platform to get the device .25" below the mat level and putting a 0" adjustment in the software as the best. This wasn't based on science it just seemed to get my no reads a bit lower (i.e., towards the 2 end in a session relative to the 5 end) but this could simply be perception error.

For what it's worth I hit on Trackman 4 weekly and even it has the occasional no read so I've stopped tinkering with setup as my M+ is performing very well. The only area it's a bit suspect is big heel/toe misses with low spin clubs in that I think gear effect is being missed in low spin shots using club data to calculate or help estimate spin when radar gets few revolutions in short mode. This is speculation on my part but I've put my M+ side by side with TM4 and those heel/toe shots were the only "odd" results between the two units.

Roughly 9’ in my garage setup which has been 95% of my use.

I built a platform to bring my mevo up to mat level and it seems to read accurately with very few misreads. Misreads are generally on poorly struck shots.

I asked Flightscope support about this and to summarize:

• The Tee Surface Height - is the height difference from the Mevo base to the hitting surface (not tee height for driver). If the Mevo is the same height as the hitting surface this should be set to 0
• If your on a hitting mat, the Mevo need not be at the same height but "it's better to have the Mevo at the same height as the Mat"

I just built a little platform to set the Mevo around 7 feet away

Basically, they confirmed my experience:

• Having Mevo+ on a small raised platform the same height as my hitting mat, with a gap between Mevo and mat is the worst configuration
• Mevo+ on the floor, setting tee height in the FS Golf app to match your hitting surface height is ok, and works better than having a "gap"
• Mevo+ on same level surface as your hitting area without a gap is the best configuration

Interesting as the “gap” situation seems to work best for me. Definitely not worse in any case.

I have the gap too in my garage and don't have any issues, most results are consistent with what I feel and expect out on the course

I think that's what makes this a hard space for Flightscope. So many different environments to work with in average consumer indoor setups which is the target user at this pricepoint. Those buying the X3 at $13k+ are more likely to professionals in commercial setups when using indoors with more a more ideal dedicated space, and probably see far less support issues to have learned from. Original Mevo was not likely used indoors much without any Sim software or spin axis. I think the more average users that get their hands in their Mevo+ the more FS will learn from the various user setups and environments. Having said all that, I'm optimistic that FS support will take care of any issues, but the growing pains can frustrate consumers for sure.
