Space required ? - 15.5 Feet

Has anyone any experience of using Mevo with 15.5 feet of indoor space
I like that it seems accurate and comes with 5 courses for sim play. (which would be a good intro to golf sim world)
I have 16.7 feet in total but I think I will need 1 foot of that for impact screen/enclosure.
Can I put the Mevo plus tight to back wall, or maybe even try and put a small recess in the wall to get a few inches to work with?.
Anyone any experiences or tips?.

That's borderline enough depth. It should work, but isn't ideal. I'd go with 8.5' ball flight, and 7' ball to Mevo+.

Yes, you can put the Mevo+ tight to the back wall. I wouldn't put it in a recess.

You can put the screen closer to the wall, perhaps 8" or so, as long as you have a heavy blanket or 1.5" memory foam topper hanging behind the screen, up against it.

I'm in the same boat, with less than 16ft to play with...
Nevertheless, I pulled the trigger on a unit a few weeks ago based on the fact that I could probably turn it around quickly if things didn't work out and hopefully not take too big a hit... Skytrak will always be there waiting if necessary...

I thought it was worth the risk as I'm not too bothered if the distance read indoors is not 100% accurate as it's more shot shape I'm concerned about for practice. I'm also more worried about my short game practice, which, from what I've read doesn't seem to be as sensitive to a shorter distance from the unit to the ball....

Unfortunately, I'll be waiting until at least September to see if the gamble paid off....

Honest question but isnt the read distance just as or perhaps even more important for shape than distance? I thought the distance was to read spin which is a large part of shape. I know spin also impacts distance, but I thought less so than club head and ball speed.

That would make sense as spin will clearly influence distance...both lateral spin and backspin. However, I've only seen people complain about loss of distance on their clubs and not excessive lateral dispersion..
Perhaps we all expect big variations in lateral dispersion but not big drops in distance

not an expert on this stuff. nevertheless, my thoughts on M+ indoors and spin/flight/distance. Distance (i guess mostly a combination of VLA, ball speed, and backspin) is has been excellent for irons and even fairway woods/hybrids. Driver (i think since the 0.09 update from watching Jay's very early videos compared to recent videos) shows too much backspin and therefore less distance. lateral dispersion is mostly HLA and side spin, i think. Side spin readings are good and will likely never be great given the limitations of radar indoors. That said, although the M+ (at least on e6) may "undercall" sidespin, it also seems to have less draw/hook movement for a given amount of side spin (watching jay's M+ vs QED video's ball flights), which contributes as much or more to the reduced leftward movement on draws/hooks. would be nice to see shot shapes when all the data parameters are same/very similar between M+ and camera system. i would bet M+/flightscope "under-draws" even with same sidespin...All in all, i'm thinking that the issues are more software/algorithm than hardware. Hopefully, future updates will continue to improve an already great product.

gear effect is another issue that seems fixable, but one should be able to feel a toe shot or a heel shot. so lack of factoring in gear effect is much less important than spin imo.

I have about 15 feet of total space and typically opt for 8 feet of flight and 7 feet tee to mevo+. I can't compare the results to any other set up as I can't set it up any other way, but I can tell you that it works. Whether it is the best set up for the best results, I can't verify but thus far I'm satisfied with full shot reads, but struggle to give a positive review on putting (getting consistent speed on putts has been frustrating).

JakeGeezy i think the question to be asked that could be helpful is how are the distances you are getting with your irons comparing to your distances playing outside. When I first got my TM3e years ago this was probably the biggest and most helpful aspect of the radar that I really grew to appreciate. I would set my elevation and temps and would get a great understanding of my average carry distances and gaping. When I took things to the course I saw a huge improvement in accuracy and also confidence in knowing what I needed to carry a bunker or water etc. If you are getting good results on this at 15 feet, then that could be helpful for others. The issue with the driver will be for high swing speed players as The radar might not have enough time to properly measure spin. Of course gear effect could also play a role with driver as well.
