Mevo+ ball and club speed accuracy

I’m pretty consistently in the 110-115 range with my driver swing speed (measured on Mevo+) but struggle to see much more than 158-163 ball speed with smash in the 1.42-1.45 range. My smash is much more efficient with my 3w.

    My questions are as follows:

    1) should I chase higher smash on Mevo+? Or is this not accurate enough to worry about low smash on good strikes?
    2) could equipment be the culprit? I’ve heard of hot and dead heads but never had the resources or access to try and find a hotter head. Or maybe loft? Shaft?

I feel like I’m working way too hard to be a longer player and with swing speeds consistently around 115—I would expect ball speeds near 170 to come easier.

Thanks for any help or input you can provide.

People freak out over smash factor. In reality, for driver, there is a HUGE area that will get you max ball speeds. Working on your “smash” factor is simply just not hitting it off the heal a lot.

Unless you’re really hitting it way off the heel a lot or extreme toe, you’re fine. Smash factor isn’t something you wanna chase, except maybe irons if you want to deloft your irons more at impact to achieve a higher smash.

You will never get a 1.5 smash factor on a GCQuad. Does that mean the GCQuad is inaccurate and can’t be used for fittings?

Ok. So what smash should I be shooting for? 1.45? 1.46? Just wondering how to use ball speed and club speed to rate my efficiency with my current equipment. My 3w is 1.46-1.49 when hit out of the center.

I don’t know what a typical smash for mevo is. Again, it depends on HOW the club head measurement is being done.

Trackman for example measures club head sleep at full compression, so the clubhead has already made contact with the ball and is slowing down. Trackman will give a 1.48-1.5 smash on center hits.

GCQuad on the other hand measures clubhead speed right before impact so the clubhead is measured as faster than Trackman. A typical smash for GCquad is 1.42-1.45.

1 is not more accurate than the other just different.

The takeaway is, use some foot spray on the face, and hit some drives. When you hit the center of the face, Record what value the mevo is giving back for smash factor. If you consistently get the same number for center hits, you know the unit is reliable.

Again remember, You don’t have to be a skilled golfer to maximize smash factor. Literally 80% of the club face will give you very close to the same ballspeed.

Your mevo+ is probably exaggerating your club head speed. I have had the same issue a few times, most likely because my mevo+ has been too close to the ball. I'm in the same ball speed area (160-165 mph) and it usually gives my club head speed 108-110 mph so about 1.5 smash.

I think it was one of the Flightscope webinars but I remember hearing from a reputable source that Mevo+ measures club head speed at ball impact. I think this puts it closer to Quad but maybe in the middle.

I have hit my Mevo+ next to Trackman 4 and the ballspeeds were super close and from memory the club speed was about 2 mph faster on Mevo+.

My swing speed on Trackman is 108-110 tops and I struggle to get ball speed above 160. My goal is to get a bit faster to average 165 but I think to see 170s with any regularity closer to 120 mph club speed on Mevo+ will be needed.
