  • Fiberbuilt Flight Deck and Practice Station

Is anyone using the Fiberbuilt Flight Deck or the Practice Station with their Mevo Plus.
Are there any known issues or reasons not to ?

I used the flight deck for a little while with my Skytrak.

Biggest issue is probably putting. If you plan on playing a lot of sim golf, the flight deck is probably not the best thing as the ball doesn't roll off of it too well.

You may have an issue using it with the Mevo+ because doesn't the Mevo require a continuous surface from unit to ball?

Thanks. I was planning on having a putting matt to the side of the Flight Deck. I am not sure if that will work that well though.

That may work. I believe the Mevo has a range of vision that can pick up balls that are to the right or left, so you should be good. But of course, I'll let actual Mevo users chime in.

I have had the practice station for about 3 years with SkyTrak first and now Mevo+.

Outside of putting it’s been perfect for me (if I can ever go to the US again I’ll buy a second one from Costco as I use in my garage and outdoors). I can’t setup permanently so it’s a great balance of easy to setup, moveable and quality (no joint/impact pain). I find the numbers are as good as any mat I’ve hit off and fat shots are known/penalized but not so much it hurts.

I’ll caveat that I hate sim putting in all forms and rarely do it even on permanent really nice setups.

For SkyTrak I used a putting mat and just folded it back to hit full shots. This worked fine for camera system.

For Mevo+ I used the same setup and it read most putts surprisingly but distances weren’t consistent (this was early days with Mevo+ so putting was evolving at that point). It did work putting the mat beside the flight deck better but the downside was stance as you’re now either reaching out very far from the stance mat or you’re standing on the fibre hitting mat.

I toyed with borrowing a left handed putter from my friend given I hate sim putting anyway that this would be a way to putt if I played in a league that required it.

      Don't bother.

The actual hitting flight deck sits over an inch above the rubber stance mat. Both of mine (2 kids) have this issue, and so does my brothers. My hitting strip sits 1 1/4" above the stance mat, my brothers is close to 1.5"!

Needless to say, it's absolutely worthless to practice with the ball above your feet the whole time. I mean, unless you want to pull your hair out wondering why you're hooking everything or why you're hitting everything fat.

I measured only after I saw someone's post on this website indicating the stance mat sits lower and I was floored at my results. Although it had occurred to me in the past because of my struggles (single digit handicap), I never bothered measuring because never did I think that Fiberbuilt would design or manufacture these things which such fata flaws. Well, they do, and they did.

I can vouch to the unevenness of the Hitting Station with Flight Deck. It's a shame, because the rest of the design is very good. I returned mine to Costco after a short time. I ended up getting the Fiberbuilt 6' x 4' double sided mat (was on sale from Amazon for $500, but not available now). Standing on turf feels better than standing on rubber, the height is even, and the hitting area is still the excellent Fiberbuilt surface.

I did not try adding plywood under the rubber hitting base of the Hitting Station, but that could mitigate some of the problem (though it could introduce the problem of slippage).

It also depends on how picky you are. I'm a low handicapper and would pay up for top quality. The Hitting Station is a really good value if you don't care about the ball sitting above your feet. You still hit of an excellent, injury-resistant turf, and it's easy to store.

I’ll measure mine Next time I set it up but an inch difference seems like a big exaggeration based on where one would stand. The stance mat is noticeably lower at the narrow part than the wider part but where you stand I think it’s only a touch lower. I figured my feet sink in to the ground on the course And on the rubber mat they don’t which is about as in the minutia as my differences in heights are (I’ve had mine a few years so possible they’ve changed it). I did consider this as optically it looked off but ultimately I dismissed it as an issue.

I’d definitely go another way if I didn’t need temporary setup but I’ve seen nothing temporary that works as well.

I put a level on mine when I had it and the hitting surface was level with the fatter part of the stance area.
