  • Mevo+ Using Chromecast and Android phone

Hi guys, im really enjoying my Mevo+ however in order to maximise my practice sessions id prefer to use the FSGolf app over E6 golf range as it contains more data points such as angle of attack.

I have a chromecast which i can plug into my Projector, however im struggling to get the FS Golf app to work with this.

I can connect my phone to the mevo+ wifi but when i do it has no internet connection and then i cant setup the chromecast to cast the screen. How is this supposed to work? Im worried that the cellular data connection while in my garage is only 1 bar so perhaps this isnt enough to use cellular data while connected to mevo+ Wifi?

Has anyone else had success with using FSGolf on an android and casting to a Chromecast?

Not tried chromecast but have hooked it up to my projector using HDMI directly from my iPhone. That worked nicely.

i have a google pixel, so i tried to chromecast as well. i couldn't get it to work. i don't think the FS skills app allows for casting yet (there's usually a little cast icon in the upper right of apps that can cast), but i could see that happening in the future. there are some android phones that can link and share screen windows PC (maybe samsung in particular, sometimes needing additional software, tho), so that is another option to try. i couldn't get that to work either with google phone - probably b/c they want everyone to buy chromecast, but i gave up pretty quickly.

Have you tried connecting the chromecast to the Mevo+ network? This is what I hear people do with Apple. I just use an HDMI adapter

i tried that, too. couldn't get it to work - i assume chromecast needs internet, not just wifi signal. i didn't try that hard, however. i have apple tv, so can always mirror iphone. would pay for a PC version!

I just purchased a couple ot plug in wifi extenders for my garage. They are about 30 bucks each. That way I can have a direct ethernet cable plugged into the computer and still have the wifi access available on the computer through its wifi adapter. Not sure if it's the same thing for you. But this way I can play the simulator online while still connected to the Mevo Plus through wifi. Not sure if that helps or not.

Yeah - i dont have an issue running E6 golf on my PC and connecting to mevo+ - i use it that way - however i wanted to use FSGolf for practice as it has better data points that E6 with mevo and I should be able to use my phone setup on a tripod to record my swing at the same time. As much fun as E6 is - i really need to train/improve and the range is so-so and has no built in video feature

I having the similar issue - by not able to connect my ipad to home wifi, I am unable to airplay to apple tv. And when I turn my wifi connection on, ofcourse Mevo Plus is not connected - am I missing something or is this expected?

This situation is a byproduct of how the Mevo+ connects, and how screen casting (Chromecast/Apple TV) software works. When you connect your phone or tablet to the Mevo+ you do so over wifi, your phone's wifi connects to Mevo+ like it is any other wifi hotspot.

Casting/mirroring your screen to Chromecast or Apple TV requires your device to be on the same network as the Chromecast or Apple TV. The problem with the Mevo+ is it is not connected to the rest of the devices on your home network, it is it's own network.

If you want to connect to the Mevo+ with a mobile device and cast/mirror your screen there are two straightforward ways to do it:
                  1. Connect your device to the Mevo+ over wifi, use a dongle that has HDMI/DisplayPort video out and plug your device into your monitor as an external source.
                  2. Use a device with multiple network adapters (laptop, desktop computer, etc..), connect your device to the Mevo+ over wifi with one wifi adapter, connect to your home network with one of the other adapters (wifi or hardwired ethernet). Chromecast or Apple TV will now work.
There's also a third possibility where you run a VPN server on your home network that knows how to pass Chromecast/Apple TV network over the 5G cell connection your phone has, enabling it to talk to your home network devices over the Internet. But setting that up is non-trivial.

I haven't received My Mevo+ yet, but I'm trying to get everything set up in my garage. I'm going to try the vysor screen mirroring app. I'm not sure how well it will work but at least I can show It on the hitting screen. Mevo was shipped today !! BTW I'll be using an android phone.
