I’m just getting started with my mevo plus. Is the weather always locked? And I’m using mine on a driving range what should I expect for a learning curve to get the alignment right, distance and ball location figured out. How big of an area should I figure for ball placement a 1 square foot area? I hit three bucks and only got 15 reads. Not a good start. Which device is best for live range use iPad with only WiFi or cell phone with WiFi and cellular?

Hey Otter if you only got 15 reads it sounds like you might have alignment issues. Setting up at a driving range can be a little tricky if the area behind the hitting mat is not flat and even. If the the hitting mats have walls or barriers in between that will also present an issue in tracking the flight of a slice, hook, fade, or draw. For the the weather to be unlocked you need to have cellular data on the device you wish to use at the range. The target area is approximately 8” right and left of the centerline. Make sure you line up the mevo+ with the ball as close as possible. I like to connect to the mevo+ without extending the rear leg and place an alignment stick right in front of the mevo+ and line up to a ball that I have teed up to ensure proper alignment and then I adjust to an 18 degree angle. Yes it does make sense, I know I’ve got a little learning curve to get things figured out. It helps to hear how other people are doing it. So it sounds like using the phone is best as it has cellular, not sure if I would run out and buy a new iPad with cellular another 500-600 although I would like a new iPad. LOL

I have read here that some connect to there phone via Bluetooth from their WiFi only iPad to get cellular data while being connected to their mevo+ via iPhone.

Ok, that one will take me a minute to wrap my head around. I would love to hear how that’s done because, i thought you could only have one device connected.

The weather can be set to your local temperature or you can go with standard sea level temperature. Some said that they could input the what the weather condition was but I haven't seen how to do that and I don't believe it to be correct. It would be nice and probably easy for FS to do.

You can set the weather, wind and altitude if you do not have internet connection when FS Golf starts up.

When you go to start session next to weather details it will say warning in an orange block. If you click on it you will be able to make the changes

Once the app says the weather is updated, your only options is what it set it as or sea level.

I find I need to move the device closer to the ball on the range...My first day I couldn't get any reads but once I moved the Mevo+ closer I have very few misses.

Closer then the 8”? Today, I attempted to try the mevo on a live range again, it was hit and miss. I did see in part of the app you can adjust the distance from the ball and height above the ball but it did not seem to make difference. It’s seems so random it reads twice in a row from the same spot but nothing from the third shoot on. I was using the alignment tool, setting the ball on the red line it would work once but then nothing. It does seem to realign it’s self, I used the alignment tool lined up on a ball got a read, then realigned and found the red line was like a foot from the ball. So the range is grass with mats. It also seems to eat my phones battery.

Played today set it up on a par 5 it recorded 4 in a row. Pretty happy for that. Went to the range afterwards, moved the unit closer as suggested, had a bit more success 24 reads out of a small bucket. So heading in the right direction just going to take so patients and some experimentation, not even ready to try the skills app or really get some good practice or videos yet.
