  • Off driver, how often do you get estimated spin vs measured?

I tried hitting driver from different distances in my backyard using FS Golf. The most space I can have is 13' ball to net, and that tbf is outside my comfort zone. The best I could get was 50% of shots with measured spin, and that was from ~11 ft and from 13' (tried both in indoor mode). From 9' I was unable to get any measured spin.

Fwiw, I'm a below average swing speed (~93 mph) so it's not like I'm killing the ball. Estimated spin numbers are north of 3700 rpm, while measured average was around 2000. Curious if anyone else has done a similar test.

    EDIT: This is with Mevo+

Is it safe to assume you are using dots?

Are you running off the battery or plugged in?

Good questions. I did use dots facing the sceen. Since it was a quick test and I had the unit fully charged it was just running off its internal battery.

I have about 12 feet to the screen and I hardly ever get an estimated spin. My swing speed is around 105. My spin numbers seem high though to me.

To start off my swing speed is pretty much the same as yours. My distance to the net is about 11 feet. Looking back at my last few short indoor sessions I would say that it’s about 15 to 20 percent of shots that get estimated. The numbers I get are anywhere from 4000 to 5000 with the majority being about 4700. These sessions were back in the end of December. I believe this was right before the updates that seemed to make things a little screwy with chipping and putting. Since the beginning of the year I have been in a warmer climate so I have used my mevo+ at the range in outdoor mode. While spin numbers are all over the place the percentage seemed to have dropped to around 10%. Here is something I find a little interesting, if you watch the video of the demo from the 2021 PGA show out of the first group of 6 shots that are hit 2, possibly 3, generate estimated spin numbers. I believe this is an ongoing issue and hopefully they will figure it out sooner than later. If anything, if they are going to estimate the spin, estimate it a little more in our favor.

Thanks for the reply! I’d be happy with 15-20% estimated spin numbers. Tried again a couple days ago from 11’, but short indoor this time. I thought my strikes were decent. Estimated spin (over 3800 rpms again) on all 3 shots.

Just wrote FS support. I’d like them to help me improve the % measured shots, but based on your recommendation also asked about them recalculating estimated spin to make it less penal.
