  • MEVO Plus - Trouble with distances in my setup - Unit working fine

Hi, it's been a little more than one week that I had my MEVO+.

At first, I was kind of suspicious about the numbers I was seeing. Not able to carry more than 125 YD with my 7 IRON, not able to hit a drive further than 200YDS, etc. I was suspicious that it could have been indoor swing syndrome. Since one of my friends recently put up a ProTee in his garage, I went to his house and tested my unit there along with the Protee. There, I was able to hit my normal distance, driver of 230 carry 9 iron 130 YDS, etc. showed correctly both on my MEVO app and on his Protee with TGC. So obviously this a setup problem more than the unit itself or ISS. By comparing the numbers (see pics) all is pretty consistent with both except club and ball speed...

I tried different things (replaced Fiberbuilt deck mat that was 1,25 IN higher than my floor with a custom DIY divot action flush with the rest of my flloor, tried different distances between 7 and 8 ft, moved thing in my garage, etc.) with no luck. I have 9 feets from ball to screen.

Could it be that my projector is interfering with my club reading? Or the electrical extension connecting my spotlight that is running just over me and below the projector (see pics). I already tested with my projector on or off...

    Thanks, everyone.

EDIT : I have 0.12 firmware, and no misreads. Chipping and putting works great.

Eliminate every possible electrical issue. Hit with the mevo+ running on internal battery. The FS golf app has an environmental feature that can be used to test your area and send feedback to FS.

Remember... you're not "Carrying" anything. You're hitting a ball into the screen. Only LAUNCH CONDITIONS matter... What was the ballspeed, launch angle and spin you were getting with mevo compared to the ProTee?

To be honest, I was focusing more on the shot shape and distance differences between the two system than any other stat. Tried different clubs and every club was showing distance much more close to what I would expect giving what I know about my game and similar numbers between the two units. On my pics, first one is my stats at my friend house and second one is my stat back at my house with driver.

So 130 ballspeed with the protee setup and around 115 ballspeed with the mevo? Yeah that’s a huge difference.

Exactly. So I know that my unit is capable of reading my swing and "normal" distances. It's something in my setup..

noticed at home swing speed avg 89.9 mph with smash of 1.356. At your buddies were 96.98 mph and smash of 1.39. There is your ball speed difference.

Best guess is indoor swing syndrome, with your setup? Possibly a little tighter space, sub consiously afraid of hitting new projector, ceiling etc?

if you have your buddy come over and he hits the same as as he would on his protee, then you can eliminate interference. If hits short could still be indoor swing or intereference

A little follow-up... Been playing yesterday night. Have been able to hit some 235 total drives on E6. So best guess is indeed indoor swing syndrome in a smaller space! Even if you think you swinging the hardest you can, you're not I guess!

One thing I have noticed for me in the last week since I have had mine, is that the mat is impacting my distances. When i use my longer clubs 3hybrid, 3wood, the distances are pretty accurate, but the lofted clubs - mid irons- are short consistently about 10 yards. I think this is because I am hitting off a mat and there is a little bounce effecting my striking. When I spray the face and get a good strike, I see the ball can get my normal distance, but only if I'm really focusing on a good solid contact.

I am hoping I will learn to play the mat more and they will regress more to my normal distances. Also, will look at a better mat option in the future when the budget allows.

If you mat is jarring, dont wait to long. Dont want to injure yourself. Might consider the Fiberbuilt flight deck insert, its about $50 on amazon.

I have had my Mevo plus for a bit over a week. I saw you are 9' from the screen. I think it is recommended to be at 8' I would check all the setup measurements. My readings are better than my real life results. I hit 7 iron about 175 but this unit has me hitting over 180 almost every shot. It seems like the smash factor changes on different sessions. One day I was playing the smash factor was maxed on every shot. This couldn't have been correct. Overall this is a good unit but it does have some small issues I have to figure out.

In short indoor its recommended 8ft Mevo+ to ball and a minimum of 8ft to screen, the more distance ball to screen the better
      Working...
