I was curious if people have experimented much with alignment and readings from the Mevo. In general I try to line up the mevo square with the impact screen. The position of the mevo is somewhat offset from the centerline of my golf room. Does the unit measure things relative to the center or is it able to tell where the ball started from and ended up even if it is a bit off center? Lets say its reading my club as being open at impact. If I turned the unit a couple of degrees would that reading change?

Mevo + alignment

Hi there,
First... Mevo+ doesn't read club face data. It only tracks the ball. It considers the center line, wherever you align the red line in the setup section of the FS Golf app... open the setup settings in FS Golf and go into Radar Alignment... you'll see your environment in the camera view, with a Red line... set the red line on the ball, and the Mevo considers your "center" along that red line.
If you place your ball but about 6" left or right of where you set the alignment, that's fine as long as your centerline/target is the same.. that's within the margin of error. I'm finding my Mevo+ is fairly forgiving... spin readings don't really change much if i'm out of alignment, but what does matter is your Horizontal Launch angle if your alignment is off, so if you set the alignment through the ball, but say 12" right of your target/impact point on your screen (if indoors), your Mevo may think you are really starting your ball quite a bit left of your intended target line..
Hope that makes sense.

I know that the MEVO+ only reads the ball. It does use the data to tell you what is going on with the club. I may not be that clear about what I am asking. If I set the ball 6" to the left of the centerline does it realize the ball started out 6" left? Does it make all calculations as if the ball started down the center? Are the results(calculation) in relation to the starting point of the ball or to the center line?

Yes - it knows if the ball is off-center from your line and adjusts automatically. Moving the ball in a 6" radius won't throw off reads from the Mevo+.

Good info and sorry for the semi thread steal - but you guys are consistently getting the alignment mode to work? In the FS Golf app and in E6 I just get a black screen with the vertical red line and then after a few seconds it shows low wifi connection or something like that. Exact same story on two different units because I sent in the first one a few weeks ago. It sucks.

yeah it's super weird... we're just a few feet away. FS support remoted in and updated some things and flipped it from the 5ghz band to 2.4 and still no dice. We have tried lots of different iPads... can't remember if I tried my Android phone. Will have to give it a shot, but regardless, I want it to work on my iPad

Hmm.. ya, strange to have that happen on 2 different Mevo+ units.. so that's why I was wondering if your iPad WiFi is acting flaky... I'd try on another device and if it works on Android, an iPhone, or a different iPad you can narrow it to your iPad as the culprit
