I am going to try out with TGC tonight and see how it is before I call to have it rolled back. I would think they would build a network of beta testers before they release. If they do have some beta testing, its not with enough people.
Awesome results with the Latest Mevo 0.17 DSP update

I was previously running 0.16, and the main issues I had, which were fairly minor, was an occasional (but rare after wrapping my short throw projector in fine metal mesh) ghost putt, and a slightly more recurring issue where a 4 or 5 iron would register as having roughly 1600rpm spin and fly 245+ yards. Putting for me was manageable, but short putts were dicey and the pace control just didn’t feel right sometimes.
After updating to 0.17 and playing a few rounds, I have seen one ghost putt, only one low spin iron out of about a hundred long iron shots (a much lower rate of occurrence than before), and I see pretty good matching between lagging a putt short of my screen (<12 feet) and seeing the putt roll out that amount in TGC2019.
So yeah, interesting to see the variation here in what others are seeing post-update. Definitely begs the question regarding if there is a sufficiently diverse pool of beta testers.
Not sure if you all caught the virtual live forum earlier today, but to me having the interference the unit is seeing displayed plainly in the app would be key I think to really allow people to diagnose any interference issues in their setup. I am sure that is only a small part of it, but it is a step in the right direction.

I updated from v.16 to .17.
only used FS golf and skills today.
I received ZERO no reads i hit about 75 shots in fs skills and 50 in fs golf.
This was a first for me getting Zero no reads as I usually always recieved about 10-20 no reads a session in those apps.
This weekend I will test out E6.

Been running .12 for months and took the plunge to go to .17. Fs Golf, CG3D and e6 all fine. But having a few weird reads on putting. They were going almost straight left for the majority.
Needs more testing but unsure so far

I asked the question in the webinar about estimated spin in the majority of shots and their reply was that there is no issue. I have yet to try .17 firmware but can anyone else hitting into a net confirm if you get a lot of estimated spin (shown by the spin number being in italics)?
I have had this from the start (end of August) and support have acknowledged the issue but the reply in the webinar said the opposite.

I had the issue dince getting mine in July. Moved on from the unit in part because of very high estimated spin off driver.Originally posted by uk_golfer View PostI asked the question in the webinar about estimated spin in the majority of shots and their reply was that there is no issue. I have only played 9 holes in E6 golf with the .17 update so far but I have found chipping and putting pretty much flawless, every putt registered and even shorter low chips bar 1, a vast improvement for me, very happy with this update at this stage!

Played TPC Sawgrass yesterday on TGC 2019 with three other players and we putted all day with only a couple no-reads. Worked well. In the TGC interface, I turned on slow swing button. We did notice with chipping if the game recommended an Iron and you used a wedge we got no read. Club down to a wedge and shot was read.

Regarding the .17 FW update....I needed to return the Mevo+ tilt angle to 14 degrees (from 11 degrees). I also needed to re-experiment with the putting distance as well. Currently, putting with a distance of 6 feet from the unit has yielded the best results. Seemingly, the inconsistent putting speed (after updating) I noticed was related to the distance of the ball from the unit.
Prior to making these changes, I still had issues with ghost putts. Once I experimented with the above issues, this 0.17 FW is working great.
This information is geared toward TGC2019 users.Last edited by ECast911; 03-14-2021, 11:48 PM.

Just updated and played 18 holes. putting is so much better! tgc 2019 is recommending 10 degrees for me. Can actually sink putts now!
Was putting 8 feet from the unit. will try closer to the unit next time for better consistency. I'm happy they're actually fixing it!

Wow these issues with chipping and putting totally negate IMO the advantage of left/right play vs skytrak. May be fine for fulll swing but not for simulator play

I've been testing with the new firmware for a few days now and so far my experience has been mostly positive. It should be noted that I only play TGC 2019 and I don't putt in my simulator --so I can't tell you anything about putting.
Here is what I have noticed:- Short chipping is improved.
In the past, on chips less that 10 yards, the Mevo+ would sporadically read a freaky, high chip when all I did was a little bump and run. Under the new firmware, this phenomenon has been reduced (but not entirely eliminated.) - The unit's connection to my computer's WiFi is more stable.
My biggest gripe about the Mevo+ was that it repeatedly disconnected from the WiFi. That meant I would have to reboot the unit (sometimes multiple times) every time I played a round of golf. This was incredibly annoying! Under the new firmware, my unit has only disconnected once in the past three days (under heavy usage.) This is a BIG improvement! - The new firmware seems to make the unit more energy efficient.
To protect my Mevo+, I never plug it in. Instead, I run it off of a battery pack each time I play. I have noticed the battery pack drains slower under firmware 0.17. I'm not sure why. - The "sweet spot" for chipping has moved about a foot forward.
I used to chip 5 feet from the the Mevo+ (because I got better results that way.) Under the new firmware, I get better results at around 6 feet. - Finally, under the new firmware, I get a couple "no-reads" per round of golf.
This didn't happen under older versions of the firmware. For me, it's not a big deal --but it is something that should noted.

Reading about all the Mevo putting issues makes me wonder how you can play TGC with 6 foot gimmes with all this going on. Just out of curiosity, how many Mevo users are able to use 6 foot gimmes on TGC? (Meaning you actually putt a 7 footer)Last edited by 3on3putt; 03-15-2021, 03:57 PM.

mcgirkke - Do you play TGC2019? If so, I have found if I set the fastputting threshold to 25 feet I basically have to hit 2 different speed putts. It sucks but it works. This also doesn't work with .017 for me as I find it is too inconsistent.
-
JayJo13 - yeah on 0.16 I had my fast putting right around 25... it was definitely workable, and the only real issue was drastically uphill or downhill putts. I had actually asked on the webinar why they couldn’t have that fast putting threshold go against the putting target cursor rather than the actual hole, since you may want to hit a putt a lot shorter/harder and need to be on the “other side” of the fast putting mode.
But yes, to your point, 0.17 seems to not really pay attention to fast putting mode anymore. I am just racking my brain trying to recall if I have ever had a putt register around 8 or 9 mph ball speed even on 0.16, I assume I would have noticed it right away if I hadn’t...
I just feel like they tweaked the sensitivity on the “slow putting” mode... and then somehow forgot about some sort of scaling/logic gap that prevents a smooth flow of speeds up from 6-7mph up to 10-11mph.

Just wanted to comment on the issues some people are having with high frequency of estimated spin. I’ve conducted several experiments with the Mevo+ (DOE for those familiar with factorial experimental design). I. These test I normally include some different brands/models of balls as one of the experiment factors to learn what balls work best. At least on my unit there is a BIG difference with various balls types. I look at both % no-read and %estimated spin (all testing was with driver). I found the following with the few types of balls I’ve tested (all balls using OEM metal dots):
- Titlest PV1 and Kirkland perf+ balls both read about 90-95% of the time and when read, have estimated spin numbers only about 8-10% of the shots
- Bridgestone e6 Soft and Taylormade Proj S both read greater than 95% of the time, but had estimated spin results over 60% of the time.
- Callaway ERC Soft read nearly 100% of the time, but spin is almost never right. Majority of shots had estimated spin and on most the ones that were showing as read (non-italics in FS GOLF app) the spins were way high (many over 10,000 rpm).
Bottom line is before you give up on the Mevo, look at using the right/best balls for the launch monitor
