  • Mevo distances are too long for shots over 150 yd

I've been using the Mevo for several months now and have found it to be fairly accurate for shots inside 150 yd but it becomes very inaccurate for shots over 150 yards. In particular, it shows much higher than actual values on longer shots.

I've made these measurements on the range and compared against a laser. For example, I'll laser a flag at 180 yd, carry short of it and Mevo says carry distance was 190 yd. Clearly that's incorrect, and by at least 12-15 yards. The errors get even larger with longer carries. I have the device set for outdoors, I have the correct standoff distance entered and I have the correct altitude.

Can anyone think what would be causing these errors?

    Thanks in advance,

Is the range flat? Could wind be a factor?

It's a bit downhill but not enough to make that much difference. My distances on my home course range are always very close to my distances on level parts of a course. And the comparisons I've done have been in conditions where wind is not a factor.

For anyone else reading this, I submitted a support request to Flightscope and finally got a response back. They said to deactivate the cellular network on my phone when I'm using the device. Seems odd (does it really interfere?) but I'll give that a shot, it's just been too windy to make any meaningful comparison the past few days.

      Thanks,

Could part of the problem be related to the ball? Are you using a range ball? Could you sacrifice a ball or two to see if that could make up part of the difference? As Mevo+ does not track the entire flight of the ball it has to be using some form of normalization feature in its calculations and wonder if this could be part of the issue. Again, I don’t think it would be as big of a difference as to what you are seeing, but might be worth a try.

Yes, I'm using range balls and have seen issues with range balls on other courses. However, my distances with the balls I play are very consistent with the balls on my home course range, maybe the range balls are off by a yard or two on average but overall they're pretty close, certainly not off by 15 yd as the Mevo is.
