    Mevo+ Space Requirements

    Hi all,
I'm setting up my first sim and can get my hands on a Mevo+, which is great, but I've only got 7ft unit to ball and 7ft of flight. Is that going to work at all or is it a complete no go?
    Thanks,
    Chris.

Mine is comparable. Maybe .5 foot more. Overall it works great. I think all yardages are accurate except driver-- it's short 10-15 yards. I believe because it's not able to watch the ball long enough

Thanks so much for your reply. Good to hear that someone else has tried it with similar space issues. It sounds like it should work so I think I'll go for it and hope it turns out well. If not, I guess I'll sell and get a skytrak instead.

Any idea your ball speeds? If on the higher side, might have issues at distances under what is recommended. More distance with radar the better.

Anyone ever tried it with smaller specs, say 6ft from screen to ball and 7 ft from ball to machine? Think of getting out of foresight Gc2 altogether. Service is a service nightmare. Anyways, Friend had mevo+ with a bigger room. It worked good. Just wondering how much I can squeeze out of this machine in a small space.

It sounds like you already have your sim space set up and a friend with a Mevo+. Why dont you ask to borrow his Mevo+ and try it in your space? I would expect most if not all your spin to be estimated.

Thanks for taking time to respond. Good question, he lives in Texas, when he is home(and not right now) and I am in Florida. So that does present some problems. Figured I would look around on the forums to see.

Hi, thanks for your replies. My ballspeed with driver tends to be about 155mph. Do you think that would be too high for the space I've got?

In the FS open forum they stated radar requires at least one revolution to measure spin.

With a ball speed of 155 mph it equals 227 ft/s. Over 7 ft it will take .03 seconds for the ball to hit the screen. Assuming 2000 rpm or 33.3 rev per sec, you have one revolution of the ball, so in theory it could work. At 3000 rpm you would have 1.5 revolutions

                7ft / 227 ft-s * 2000 rpm / 60 sec per min = 1.0279 revolutions over 7 ft.

Considering impact is noisy and when you look at the acceleration and velocity profiles the other FS units provide, they typically do not show the data one foot before and after impact.

My best guess is it has trouble measuring the ball in the first foot after impact, so you effectively have a little less space.

I think I would expect it to measure the ball speed and launch angles but have almost all estimated spin. As you move down in clubs, your ball speed goes down and spin goes up, so it should have a much better chance of providing measured spin.

I would be very hesitant to expect great results when the you are not able to meet the minimum requirements the manufacturer requires, it seems most people find when they are able to increase the ball flight from 8ft to 10 ft they see better performance.

I am currently at 7ft mevo+ to ball and 13 ft to screen in indoor mode. I am borrowing a Skytrak and am going to compare numbers at 7/13 indoor to 8/12 short indoor and possibly 8/12 indoor mode. It looks like they have changed their recommended setup from when I ordered it May and today. FS in June said set up for 7/13 in indoor mode. After their FAQ email last week and my inquiry to them they are suggesting I switch to short indoor mode at 8/12ft

                Hope this helps

I have around 165 ball speed with driver. I have found 8' ball flight works okay for 7 iron and shorter but longer clubs such as 4 iron, 3 wood and driver aren't accurate. I start getting way higher launch angles than normal and the ball speeds aren't very accurate. Once you get 10' of ball flight the numbers become way more accurate. So 7 feet is not gonna work if that's the most you can get.

Thanks for all your help everyone. Based on people's experiences, it doesn't look like the Mevo+ is going to work for me unfortunately. Skytrak it is then!
